Position Description

The Program Manager (PM) of the Community Safety Program leads an emerging program area of KCSC with organization leadership and directs both staff and volunteers to support the development of a KCSC community safety program in Seattle, WA.  The PM is a bi-lingual (Korean-English), visionary individual who is able to seed, nurture, guide, and grow an intentional program portfolio that engages community stakeholders including the Korean American small business sector, trade associations, and youth and families.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of staff and volunteers to propose, plan, implement and evaluate programs and projects focused on community safety.
  • Guiding staff and implementing systems for workplan development, execution, monitoring progress and evaluation.
  • Developing, sustaining and maturing external relationships with funders including management of contractual agreements, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Managing budget processes including synthesis of individual project and program budgets, overall budget and expenditures monitoring, and approval of program expenses.
  • Working with managers and directors to maximize programs, services, and cross-functional operations.

Ultimately, the successful candidate for this position is able to coordinate multiple activities such that each project reaches its goals and deliverables.  All staff are asked to support organizational development initiatives and activities as time allows while maintaining balance with program-focused responsibilities.

This is a 14-month part-time position with a standard work week of 20-40 hours/week.  Continuation is contingent on available funds.  The PM is “stationed” at KCSC but maintains flexibility in both work location and work hours because duties include significant external activities outside of KCSC’s hours of operation.  During the COVID pandemic, it is expected that the PM will fulfill their duties primarily from a remote station “at home.”

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience managing multiple projects and or programs, or 3-4 years of experience as a successful Project Coordinator or similar role
  • Solid organizational skills, including time- and workplan-management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work as a member of a team
  • An ability to manage multiple program/project level budgets and track expenses
  • A demonstrated strong commitment to social justice and racial equity
  • Bi-lingual Korean-English and a demonstrated ability to engage Korean-speaking community members and leaders
  • Strong community- and client-facing communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with project coordination and team communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, etc.)
  • Software skills including Microsoft Office, Google Suites, etc.
  • Ability to engage in travel. Use of personal vehicle required.
