CBS Food Program located in Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania was founded in 2001 to provide excellent, nutritious, and dependable food to the children of Greater Philadelphia, so each child has one less barrier to a future full of possibility. CBS Food Program services day cares, schools, after school programs, summer camps and other non-profit organizations throughout the region, delivering fresh and delicious meals and snacks at low, or no cost.  

 

Today we serve thousands of children daily in childcare centers, schools, and after-school programs. 


We are currently seeking a Director of Operations to join the team.  This position will lead the team who manage childcare center and school relations to, provide nutritionally balanced menus development, food plans, inventory, packaging, and delivery.  The role ensures compliance with all standards and maximizes the use of revenue streams from the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).  

Duties and Responsibilities 

Operations Management

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the food storage facility. 
  • Ensure efficient production, packaging, distribution, and delivery of meals and food. 
  • Manage inventory, including food supplies and equipment. 
  • Develop and execute growth and scaling initiatives.  

Budgeting and Financial Management: 

  • Develop and manage budgets for food service operations. 
  • Monitor food costs, labor expenses, and equipment maintenance. 
  • Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality. 

Quality Control and Compliance: 

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. 
  • Maintaining high standards for food quality, packing, delivery, and inventory management preparation, presentation, and service. 
  • Conducting regular audits and inspections. 

Vendor Relations:  

  • Support the procurement lifecycle, including but not limited to: vendor selection, account creation, purchase order management, materials requisitioning and receiving, inventory management, and invoice reconciliation and payment. 

Staff Supervision and Training: 

  • Oversee the work of an operational team of nearly twenty employees, ensuring efficiency and productivity.  
  • Hiring, train, and supervise the Dietician, Compliance Specialists, and Center Specialist. 
  • Leverage and implement technology to gain insight and increase efficiency. 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • 5+ years of experience in scale CACFP operations required. 
  • Experience with NSLP and SFSP is strongly preferred. 
  • Highly skilled in Office 365.  
  • Track record of successfully building, managing, developing, and supporting inclusive, high-performing, diverse teams.  
  • Successful experience creating, codifying, and improving systems to support change. 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to walk significant distances and climb stairs.  
  • Ability to work on weekends and evenings as necessary.

Additional Information 

  • Status: Full-Time; Exempt 
  • Reports to (direct): Chief Executive Officer 
  • Hours & Schedule: 40 hours per week/year-round
