The Denver Foundation’s Impact Group is responsible for delivering exceptional outcomes to drive the Foundation’s community leadership. The Impact Group is responsible for managing all aspects of the Foundation’s revenue development, donor stewardship, grantmaking, and leadership activities around public policy, evaluation and learning, and philanthropic leadership and engagement. The Impact Group is dedicated to leveraging philanthropy and generosity to help create a more racially equitable community, in which all residents have the opportunity for a high quality of life and a voice in their futures.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for managing the Foundation’s largest government contract with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Duties include grantmaking and administration for six distinct funding sources related to COVID relief and recovery across the state of Colorado. Working in close partnership with the team at CDPHE, this position will ensure that funds are deployed for maximum impact and that all administrative responsibilities are fulfilled in the context of a three-year state contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Departmental Collaboration and Engagement:

·        Contribute to building and sustaining a positive departmental culture that supports commitment to team goals and core values, and that fosters the development of individual leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement

·        Work in collaboration with other Impact Group colleagues and Communications staff to tell stories of impact for the community, and for donor-specific reporting

·        Participate with Impact Group colleagues to identify opportunities for co-investment and donor/nonprofit collaboration

Grant Management and Administration:

·        Develop and update (as needed) RFA for grant programs (if not already completed) in partnership with TDF’s Communication team, Special Funds team, and CDPHE

·        Develop and update (as needed) grant application and final report (if not already completed) in partnership with TDF’s Impact Project Manager, Special Funds team, and CDPHE

·        Develop or refine scoring rubric (if not already completed)

·        Promote grant program to include working with TDF’s Communication team and CDPHE’s Regional Outreach Coordinators and with Resource Specialists to reach community-based organizations outside of Metro Denver

·        Provide assistance to applicants to complete the grant application

·        Review grant applications, complete scoring rubric, and compile recommendations for CDPHE

·        Meet with CDPHE to review grant recommendations

·        Communicate with applicant re: results of a grant application and if funded, maintain communication with grantees re: activities, financial management of grant funds, reporting, and invoicing in partnership with CDPHE Regional Outreach Coordinators and Resource Specialists

Administrative:

·        Develop and manage internal time and activity tracking tools

·        Work with The Denver Foundation’s Finance & Administrative Team to submit monthly invoicing to CDPHE

·        Work with The Denver Foundation’s Finance & Administrative team to provide fiscal oversight on expenditures by the grant recipient entities during the course of their funded project

·        Develop and submit annual reporting to CDPHE on each grant program and at the conclusion of the grant programs

·        Support TDF's Finance & Accounting team to build and amend project budget as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        At least five years of experience in grantmaking, grant administration, and project management

·        Knowledge and understanding of the local nonprofit sector

·        Experience with nonprofit management, evaluation, and efficacy, including grant review and program oversight

·        Experience building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures

·        Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal and relational skills

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills

·        High level of confidentiality and professionalism

·        Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation

·        An unwavering commitment to racial equity

·        Belief in the model of community foundations

·        Commitment to the philosophy of the Impact Group, bringing together all philanthropy at the Foundation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Experience managing government grant programs

·        Knowledge of Foundant and or other CRM software

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is based in an office environment with a mix of private offices and cubicles. Travel throughout the state is a frequent requirement of the job. The position will occasionally be asked to staff weekend and evening events.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·        Daily communication via phone

·        Frequent extended hours in front of a computer screen with or without accommodations

·        Regular group and public speaking

·        Occasional activities occurring outdoors
