    Descrição

Spend five weeks in the Green Mountains of Vermont with a dedicated team of education professionals hosting small groups of underserved Boston children and teens for a unique summer camp experience. For 45 years, EVkids Camp has provided a life-changing immersion in community life at our own nine-acre site in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Structured camp activities — from volleyball to archery, from improv to chess — build character, community and sportsmanship. Reaching the top of Vermont’s 4000-foot peaks teaches challenging life lessons in perseverance and accomplishment. Explorations in mindfulness, stewardship, and service encourage personal and civic engagement and responsibility.

EVkids Camp is staffed by three Co-Directors and 6 Camp Counselors. Staff live, work, and share communal space with a dozen EVkids per session who come from underserved families in the Dorchester and Roxbury neighborhoods of Boston. Camp Co-Directors share all responsibilities of preparing for and running daily life at camp while also supporting the Camp Counselors. Our 2:1 camper to staff ratio ensures necessary support to campers. The impact is transformative for both campers and staff. Camp life is focused on support, positivity, and creating a safe and nurturing environment for our campers and Leaders in Training (LIT). Camp consists of on-site counselor training and three separate camp sessions (16-18 year olds LIT week, 12-13 year olds week, and a two-week session for 14-15 year olds).

Rooted in the Catholic tradition of social justice, EVkids is a faith-based organization based in Dorchester, MA, that respects the various backgrounds and experiences that have brought our staff and volunteers together to work towards a more equitable and compassionate world. We are committed to a diverse workplace and do not discriminate based on race, age, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability.
