    The Role

    The Program Coordinator role is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of ELP’s program activities to ensure they align effectively with the ELP’s mission and the program’s goals. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the ELP program team, private sector sponsors, and our partner schools to implement effective and meaningful career-readiness programming for high school Scholars in the South Bronx. To this aim, the Program Coordinator will play a key role in working closely with our ELP Scholars that participate in our Core, Intern, and Fellows Programs to support their participation and enhance their professional and personal development. This role is essential to supporting technical and administrative projects across our programs; they will work with members of the program team to plan and implement curriculum, track student progress and data, coordinate tasks to launch and close out programs, and plan and support student events. 

    What you’ll do on the job:

    Administrative: 

    • Create fliers, certificates, worksheets, and other collateral materials related to ELP Programs, Events, and Student needs
    • Manage student permission slips for programs and events; coordinate student paperwork for other events as needed
    • Own student completion letters and other paperwork delivery to school partners
    • Manage food and snack orders for Programming; set up programming space and help manage technology and resources used 
    • Perform duties to maintain ELP’s new office space; oversight of office areas, ordering supplies, etc.

    Programmatic Support: 

    • Maintain data management systems (both qualitative and quantitative) around student engagement and progress of program objectives; organize student data, ensure data cleanliness, and collaborate with team on data systems
    • Support the Managing Director of Program and Strategy and Program Manager to execute the day to day tasks that keep our programs running
    • Work with other program coordinators to prioritize and implement program related tasks including student reminders, follow-ups, and occasionally chasing down students for specific missing assignments and paperwork
    • Co-plan and occasionally facilitate after school programming for scholars during after school programming
    • Maintain Google Classroom and end-of-week newsletter for students participating in Core Program
    • Serve as an ambassador for the program with various constituencies supporting the scholars

    Direct Student Support:

    • Support students in program onboarding including ensuring students have submitted and completed intricate and details steps of application processes
    • Manage student attendance, participation, and engagement in the program through direct communication (email, text, virtual meetings) with program participants
    • Build relationships with ELP scholars, and act as a trusted adult, exemplifying professional skills

    Additional duties and responsibilities as needed, such as:

    • Willingness to build meaningful relationships with school partners, corporate partners, and volunteers; strong interpersonal skills
    • Participating actively in team meetings and offering your creative ideas and thoughts; we are a small and growing organization, and do our best to involve our whole staff in organizational decisions
    • Project management for streamlines that arise in each program, as assigned by Program Team
    • Learning new systems pertaining to program, and training the ELP team as needed

    Job Requirements & Skills 

    • 1-3 years of experience in youth development, school-based work with direct contact with students at the high school or college level, or project and program management experience in the private sector
    • Ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders including program staff, school administration, and private sector partners 
    • Experience in communicating effectively with high school youth using a variety of communication channels
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask; ability to organize and prioritize various tasks 
    • Self-starter, ability to take initiative in a small, agile organization; comfortability with some level of unpredictability (we work with students, and every day brings something new)
    • Strong attention to detail and execution skills; this role will involve some level of administrative work
    • Preferred: strong use of Google Suite, Adobe, LinkedIn, Canva, and Zoom. Experience using Concur, Inova, or an interest in managing Social Media accounts and bonus!

    This full-time position reports directly to the Managing Director of Program and Strategy. This person will regularly attend Student Programming in-school year at our schools and attend student events at corporate partner sites, as well as sit in our Bronx Offices.
