PROGRAM COORDINATOR, MIT-ARAB WORLD PROGRAM, Center for International Studies (CIS)- MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI), to administer and develop the MIT-Arab World internship and teaching program by advertising the program; recruiting MIT students; maintaining standards in interviewing students for admission to the program; maintaining guidelines for matching students with academic, industry, and teaching placements in the Arab World; overseeing the logistics of placements (e.g., travel arrangements, housing, paperwork, insurance); helping to prepare students for their experience abroad; and planning events to raise the profile of the program on-campus. Office tasks include daily interaction with students, administrators, and hosts; updating databases; managing program accounts; maintaining the program’s website and developing other communication materials. Will also provide support for regional programs and collaborations and for the director of MISTI’s programs in the Middle East region and the senior associate director with regard to other MISTI or CIS support as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least two years’ experience in program administration, including international education and hands-on experience in the Arab World; excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; a record of using discretion and good judgment with confidential information; technical proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database tools like Terra Dotta, Sales Force, and FileMaker; and willingness to learn new software and other skills as needed. Must be able to follow through on tasks; work both independently and as part of a team; and interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, students, staff, and corporate sponsors. PREFERRED: master's degree, hands-on experience in Jordan, written and spoken Arabic language skills, and MIT-related experience.
Salary range (pay grade 6): $54,820 - 72,175, starting salary commensurate with experience
Occasional weekday evening and weekend work will be required.
