We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team to help us expand and elevate the impact of community-based stewards of parks and public spaces across San Francisco. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in civic entrepreneurship for both immediate and long-term impact on the City of San Francisco. In this role you will help to shape the future of our Community Partner Network - a key program of SFPA that supports community groups who are striving to make a difference through creating and sustaining welcoming, active and safe public spaces. About the Position

The Associate Director, Development plays a critical role on the development team, leading the retention and acquisition of donors below $1,000 annually. This includes managing the organization's growing annual & special appeals process, membership program, monthly giving, and matching gifts. This role is responsible for raising significant revenue, managing complex, multi-team mailing and digital campaigns, and planning donor events. 

 

Annual & Special Fundraising Appeals (35%)

  • Working with the Director of Development, set a yearly goal for annual and special appeals with a plan for growth and new donor acquisition
  • Create and manage a year-long calendar of annual and special appeals
  • Meet or exceed the Individual giving Annual Fund goal 
  • Write, or manage the writing of copy for appeal letters, emails, and other materials
  • Lead relationship with the mail house for design, printing, and distribution
  • Working with the marketing team and contactors, develop creative strategies for both mailed and digital appeals
  • Use industry-standard metrics to track progress towards the acquisition and retention goals
  • Prepare and conduct detailed reports and presentations regarding appeals for staff, board, and other key stakeholders

Membership Program (35%)

  • Working with the Director of Development, set a yearly goal for membership retention and acquisition with a plan for growth 
  • Create and manage a year-long calendar of membership communications and events
  • Act as lead representative for all membership activities in the field
  • Create and plan a series of SFPA member events
  • Create and send monthly renewal notices 
  • When possible, transition the membership program to an auto-renewal system
  • Manage all communications with members 
  • lead the acquisition of new member benefits including discounts and special offers
  • Write, or manger the writing of copy for member collateral and web pages
  • Working with the marketing team, develop creative strategies for membership acquisition and retention

General Individual Giving (30%)

  • Working with the Director of Development, Manage and grow the monthly giving program, matching gifts, and special solicitations
  • Manage a portfolio of donors below $1,000
  • Coordinate weekly development pipeline meetings 
  • Build and implement a strategy for tracking prospects in Salesforce
  • Coordinate key major donor requests with Development Leadership and CEO
  • Participating in the social media team and various marketing projects as it relates to promoting individual giving
  • Assist with External Affairs events and initiatives

SF Parks Alliance offers competitive market-based salaries which are commensurate with experience, skills, industry, and organizational budget as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes a generous vacation policy, medical, dental, vision, chiropractic/acupuncture, commuter benefits, a flexible spending account, Basic Life/AD&D insurance, and 401(k) employer contributions. This position is benchmarked at an annual equivalent salary of $85,000 to $90,000 depending on experience.
