Young Adult Employment Specialist (Bilingual)

Interested in joining our team of dedicated professionals? Way Finders is currently seeking a full-time Young Adult Employment SpecialistThis position will be responsible for facilitating employment and career development in individuals ages 16 - 24 by providing case management and wraparound services that support clients on their path to independent living.

The candidate will work in a hybrid-remote capacity but must live within commutable distance to the main office in Springfield, MA. In-office work and local in-person meetings are occasionally expected.

Responsibilities include:

  • Obtain and review all referrals in a timely manner
  • Conduct assessments of client employment, skills, and education needs, as well as potential barriers, for successful job placement and job retention
  • Support clients in reaching their educational and/or career goals by assisting them in identifying and achieving critical milestones on their path to independence; provide coaching that includes wraparound support and referrals as needed
  • Develop and review employment plans with clients that implement goals and work to maximize self-sufficiency through employment, including identifying and communicating next steps such as resume-building, soft skill development, understanding skill level, training/education needs and opportunities, and connection to resources; maintain complete, accurate, and timely case files
  • Perform site visit at job placements and work with employer-partners to evaluate areas of success or potential improvement
  • Actively employ harm reduction strategies with clients; promote behaviors that support self-reflection, program completion, and job retention
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal staff and external providers to ensure comprehensive and seamless service delivery, actively coordinating with area agencies involved with the Secure Jobs Initiative
  • Transport clients to appointments as appropriate
  • Collect, share, and remain current on developments in employment and workforce development service offerings

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or public administration; commensurate experience may be a substitute for a degree
  • 3+ years’ experience in workforce development or social services management; related experience may be a substitute
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) written and verbal skills required
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office applications, and comfort learning new technologies
  • Clear, effective, and timely communication skills across all levels of internal staff, clients, and stakeholders
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; reliable vehicle
