Organization Overview

We move Philadelphia schoolchildren, particularly K-2 students, to grade-level reading in an accelerated time frame by recruiting and training adults as well as middle and high school students to coach younger learners, either one-on-one or in small groups. We support student learning by offering teachers evidence-based literacy training and by providing parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students the tools to raise their children's phonemic awareness and letter identification skills.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator (DC) reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the management team. The DC works directly with the Executive Director to plan, coordinate, and implement a donor program to meet the organization’s fundraising goals and build the donor base. The DC manages the organization and implementation of development and communications projects, including: identifying funding targets; prospect research; new donor cultivation; grant application scheduling and tracking; donor stewardship; and social media and communications. Further, the DC works closely with the Executive Director to identify funding opportunities for new programmatic initiatives and with the Board of Directors on semi-annual giving campaigns.

Responsibilities

The Development Coordinator's specific role includes the following:

·      Assist the Executive Director in the creation and implementation of the organization’s development and communications goals and strategies

·      Create and manage annual development and communications calendars

·      Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of all grant applications

·      Maintain CRM database, including updating donor records, compiling biographical information, data entry, and pulling reports/queries

·      Research potential donors and maintain prospect list

·      Oversee the organization's social media pages and other communications materials, including monthly newsletters

·      Support Board of Directors’ Development Committee in managing semi-annual giving campaigns, in June and December

·      Develop clear and effective strategies, practices, and procedures for the tracking and reporting of future development and communications projects 

·      Oversee accurate tracking and reporting of all grant applications

·      Manage the organization’s donor stewardship touchpoints

·      Support the Executive Director in managing relationships with major donors and promising funding prospects

·      Provide the Executive Director with monthly donor and campaign reports

·      Provide Board of Directors with quarterly contribution attribution reports

·      Assist with preparation of the annual report and other communications regarding organizational impact as needed

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have:

·      Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Achieve Now's mission

·      An unwavering commitment to quality work, and demonstrated excellence in organizational and project management, particularly in an educational non-profit

·      Superb organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to details

·      Highly developed communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization across a wide range of constituencies

·      Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations

·      Exhibited comfort in a growing and evolving organization, with expectation of strong contribution to shaping the organization's future

·      Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·      Familiarity with Squarespace, eTapistry, and Mailchimp a plus

·      Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree strongly preferred

·      Two to three years development and/or nonprofit experience

This can be either a part-time or a full-time position, depending on interest and experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
