The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a National Field Organizer for our Innovations team.

About CPD + CPDA

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We work with nearly 50 affiliates in over 30 states and Puerto Rico to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations that envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position:

The National Field Organizer for Innovations will help CPD/A partners build capacity, power, and organizing infrastructure through the set up and implementation of CPD/A's multi-channel organizing project. The National Field Organizer for Innovations will align organizing models, coordinate mass outreach, and develop lists of both affiliates involved in Innovations campaigns (particularly healthcare justice) and individuals. This position will use tools such as peer to peer texting and targeted canvassing and will also track the progress of team pilots and experiments and work with our affiliate organizations. They will have a leading role in engaging our online base to take offline action.

While we estimate about 6 years of experience for this role, our focus will be on demonstrated experience and success, not years of experience.

Primary Responsibilities

The National Field Organizer will:

  • Develop content for social media including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to increase engagement and build CPD/A’s lists.
  • Maintain the CPD healthcare justice cohort, consisting of CPD/A affiliates working on state and national campaigns.
  • Engage supporters in organizing conversations through Facebook ads and groups, peer-to-peer texting, phone calls, etc., to encourage greater engagement.
  • Develop compelling emails, petitions, and other methods used in digital campaigning.
  • Implement strategies and tactics to grow our base of supporters over email, text, and other lists.
  • Plan and execute high quality events, activities, and actions, including lobby visits with key representatives.
  • Schedule, prep attendees, and run advocacy meetings.
  • Keep projects on track and communicate regularly with the team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A deep commitment to building a base that increases power for low-income black and brown communities;
  • Ability to implement a range of campaign strategies and tactics, including policy, corporate accountability, direct action, and civic engagement;
  • Ability to facilitate workshops on organizing and advocacy tactics;
  • Experience leading winning policy campaigns with national significance or impact;
  • An understanding of issues facing communities of color, women, and low and moderate-income families;
  • Experience building and working with broad-based issue coalitions;
  • A deep understanding and respect for the organizing of CPD/A affiliate organizations;
  • Advanced experience in training, coaching, and developing organizers and campaigners;
  • Ability to travel.

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $65,000-$75,000 and category 2. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is available here.
