House Rabbit Society (HRS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to improve domestic rabbit lives by elevating their living standards, quality of care, and legal status as indoor animal companions through education, rescue, and awareness. Our headquarters is located in Richmond, CA.
Rabbits are social, intelligent, individual beings. Through our website at www.rabbit.org, we share our philosophy that all domestic rabbits are worthy of the same quality of care as dogs and cats and that the safest place for domestic rabbits is indoors, as part of the family.
The Executive Director is responsible for all operational and administrative functions of HRS, which has local, national, and international programs. This individual provides oversight for a broad assortment of organizational initiatives and is responsible for implementation of the strategic plan. As the public face of HRS to members, funders, and the general public, the Executive Director is responsible for the management and development of a dedicated team of staff members and volunteers. This person will ensure that fundraising objectives are met and that community outreach efforts are both in alignment with and guiding the organization’s mission.
This position is located at House Rabbit Society’s headquarters in Richmond, California, with the possibility of remote work. If working offsite, there would be periodic travel to Richmond (in the Bay Area). Travel to conferences and out-of-state chapters would be required.
