Job Description:

This person is responsible for accurate financial reporting and revenue management for a variety of contracts in the Fulbright Program portfolio, including cooperative agreements with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), and grants, contracts, and contributions from U.S. Embassies, foreign governments, bi-national Fulbright Commissions, and other program stakeholders. This includes monitoring expenses and AR balances and preparing and/or reviewing financial deliverables, reports, and invoices. This person will also support departments across the Institute with financial analysis and grant/contract management.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Essential Functions:

• Creates and maintains award/contract status reports to monitor project expenses against approved budget line items. Identifies major variances and resolves issues with revenue recognition and cash receipts. Prepares and reviews financial deliverables.

• Reviews award status reports on a monthly basis or as needed with points of contact in the Program Management unit. Reviews burn rate and other metrics to make projections and provide financial decision support to Program Managers. Interprets agreement and applicable regulations to determine recoverability of costs.

• Assists functional units with resource planning, inputting expense and revenue projections in operational budget templates and determining projections are in-line with anticipated results. Works with Program Development, Program Management, and other functional units to translate narrative project proposals for award renewals/re-bids into cost proposals (budgets and budget notes).

• Determines appropriate product type for new agreements and facilitates PeopleSoft award setup. Develops and distributes payment coding structure. Acts as award administrator throughout the life cycle of an award, including creating new projects and activities and uploading and tracking financial deliverables.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.

• Requires at least two years of related work experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with ability to run pivot tables, data validations, charts, and advanced formulas in Excel.

• Working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 preferred.

• Familiarity with GAAP preferred.

• Preferred experience in grants management with USG, private, and/or foreign government.

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to drive common understanding across a variety of stakeholders.

• Exercise discretion on confidential matters.

• Proven ability to create and explain financial report and analysis.
