Finance Director (Part-Time, Remote/Hybrid)

Reports to: Executive Director

Compensation: $60-$70/hour (approx 20 hours/week)

Type: Fractional / Contract / Part-Time

Location: Remote/Hybrid as needed (Bay Area)

Position Overview

PEBCC seeks a strategic, detail-oriented Finance Director to oversee the financial health and compliance of the organization. This role is responsible for accounting, budgeting, payroll, HR support, and office operations, while helping ensure sustainability and efficiency across departments.

This is a high-impact, collaborative leadership role reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Finance Committee and Board. Ideal candidates bring nonprofit finance expertise and a passion for empowering youth through music.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Budgeting

• Manage A/P, A/R, payroll, and reconciliations
• Lead budget creation, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Generate monthly/annual financial reports for the ED and Board
• Oversee audit and tax prep (990)
• Monitor cash flow, income streams, and financial aid processes
• Evaluate financial trends and long-term health; support fundraising and grant reporting

HR & Operations

• Administer employee benefits (health, 401k)
• Onboard staff/contractors; manage payroll and agreements
• Maintain compliance with labor laws and filings
• Order office supplies and maintain insurance documentation

Leadership & Strategy

• Serve as the primary financial advisor to ED and Board
• Align budgets with strategic plans and organizational goals
• Work collaboratively with Board, Committees, ED and Department Directors
• Liaise with banks, brokers, and advisors on financial accounts

Events

• Support logistics at key annual events (Benefit Concert, Golden Gate Festival, etc.)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 7+ years of finance experience (2+ in nonprofit sector)
• Expertise in QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Excel, and budgeting tools
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Knowledge of nonprofit finance, audits, investments, endowments, and planned giving preferred
