Title: Human Resources Manager

Classification: Full-time, Salaried, Exempt

Location: Main Office/Remote - Hybrid

Supervisor: Executive Director 


Job description

The Human Resources Manager supports the mission of DAP by overseeing DAP’s HR functions and providing direct support to the employees and volunteers. The Human Resources Manager is a full time, exempt, position that offers excellent benefits and is an ideal fit for a HR Management professional who would like to balance their leadership and people operations skills.

Essential Duties: 

  • Responsible for developing and implementing the agency’s HR Strategy.
  • Enhances the agency’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Oversee employee evaluation processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for the recruitment of staff, volunteers and interns.
  • Supports agency staff and volunteers by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; and recommending changes.
  • Provide training and coaching to all employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all funder-related personnel requirements. 
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees and volunteers; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; and counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records.
  • Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures, including periodic updates of the Employee Handbook..
  • Retains historical personnel  records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening
  • Support effective resolution of complex or sensitive disagreements or conflicts
  • Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect
  • Ability to work well with others, promoting commitment within the team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Maintain confidentiality and earn respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
  • Knowledge of the Human Resources systems
  • Competence in using MS Office products, including WORD, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • SHRM certification preferred.  

Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of required agency training
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Check and other agency required clearances

Compensation: The annual salary for this role is $65,000 per year, along with a generous benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance.  A 401-k retirement savings plan and 401k matching, an employee assistance program and  generous PTO.
