Senior Manager, Recruiting (US-based role)

The Senior Manager of Recruiting will lead FSG’s US-based recruiting efforts in partnership with the Head of People and Recruiting Coordinator, focusing on creating, advancing, and evaluating searches across all US-based Impact Units and Operations Teams. As a member of the People Team, the Senior Manager of Recruiting will incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into all aspects of their work. This role will report to Marcia LoMonaco, Head of People.


Responsibilities

Shape FSG’s US-based recruiting efforts by organizing searches from inception to hire, in partnership with other members of the People Team, Impact Units, and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

  • Create search plans and relevant materials (e.g. job descriptions, scenario interviews, evaluation forms, etc.) that meet Impact Unit/Team needs and are grounded in inclusive and equitable recruiting practices
  • Facilitate hiring and decision conversations across multiple stakeholders and teams
  • Communicate with candidates and navigate sensitive conversations with a high degree of empathy and courtesy, in keeping with FSG’s values
  • Collaborate with the Head of People and Recruiting Coordinator to manage searches from start to finish with attention to pipeline diversity and equity throughout
  • Engage Director of DEI to integrate skills and competencies related to inclusion and equity-focused analysis into search criteria as appropriate
  • Build FSG’s employer brand awareness with attention and care and a focus on reaching historically excluded groups

Partner with FSG’s US-based Impact Unit/Teams to understand needs, sequence hiring efforts, and transition from recruiting to onboarding

  • Understand the hiring needs of multiple Impact Units/Teams and sequence overlapping searches to maximize resources and balance workloads
  • Partner with other members of the People Team to effectively transition from recruiting, to hiring, to onboarding

Utilize field knowledge and data analysis to enhance FSG’s US-based recruiting practices 

  • Assess disaggregated quantitative and anecdotal data across the candidate pipeline and continually improve candidate experiences and outcomes in line with our focus on equity and inclusion, in partnership with People team and Director of DEI
  • Research trends in the field, engage with other practitioners, and bring innovations and process improvements to FSG
  • Coach and train FSGers on inclusive and equitable hiring practices (e.g. conducting interviews, assessing candidates, etc.), in collaboration with Director of DEI
  • Share knowledge with FSG’s People Team representative(s) in Asia and Europe to collaborate and share best practices in recruiting efforts across the firm

Support other People Team projects as applicable

  • Partner with other People team members to address overall needs of the firm; assignments may include supporting employee engagement, recognition, and retention efforts, etc.


Requirements

  • 6-8 years of experience in roles with progressive responsibility, as a member of a recruiting, human resources, or people development team
  • Experience applying equity and inclusion principles in design and execution of recruiting efforts and other talent functions with attention to diversity across multiple dimensions and intersections including race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.
  • Experience leading in a multi-stakeholder environment and effectively navigating decisions that involve competing priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment where sharing insights and knowledge to drive impact is expected and celebrated
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis experience with ability to translate findings into clear and meaningful recommendations

In addition, the candidate will have experience in:

  • Empathetic communication approaches, conveying emotional intelligence that balances the analytical and personal nature of decisions about people
  • Commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and sensitivity regarding employee information
  • Project management, including anticipating problems in advance while balancing multiple priorities with ease
  • Strategic thinking: keeping the big picture in mind while delivering on the details
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment; ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Passion for FSG’s mission to create large-scale, lasting social change; knowledge of the social sector preferred


Position

In the US, FSG has offices in Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington D.C. This full-time role will begin remotely, and we are open to considering candidates in other geographies (within the contiguous US) as we continue to refine our policies regarding office presence.* The starting salary for this role is $85,000. Salaries are set according to an explicit compensation policy, and relevant market data is analyzed when setting salaries for each role. We also offer a generous benefits package including: health insurance with 100% of premiums covered by FSG, 3 weeks paid vacation, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, cell phone stipend, disability and life insurance, and more. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for our U.S. offices. In addition, we are unable to support the OPT Training Visa, as this visa will eventually require sponsorship.

 

*FSG’s US offices are currently closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Employees are working virtually and no travel is expected through at least the remainder of 2021. We will continue to monitor the situation with the health and safety of our staff at the forefront. FSG is offering a variety of technological and well-being resources to support our people as we navigate our current environment together.
