Grant Proposal Writer (part-time)

Children’s Museum Easton (CME), located in North Easton, MA, is looking to hire a part-time grant writer to compose proposals for our museum. CME, a non-profit 501(c)(3) museum, is a vibrant, engaging educational, experiential, and cultural community asset. Our mission is to inspire young children, their families, and caregivers to become lifelong learners, no matter the economic circumstances of our visitors. Our focus is on early learning and discovery for children ages 1 -8. The museum is housed on three floors in a 117-year-old firehouse, with a safe, fenced outdoor learning space, offering affordable, high-quality exhibits, programs (STEM), classes (music, science, art, yoga), field trips, and special events. Our programs are designed to meet MA Curriculum Frameworks. We offer in-person and virtual outreach programs to schools, libraries, and community centers.

The grant writer will create coherent, organized, compelling proposals. We seek applicants who know how to research efficiently and thoroughly, write well, have proficient knowledge of fundraising methods, and be committed to the mission of CME. An ideal applicant is someone who is a self-starter and a dead-line-driven team player with multitasking abilities. Applicants should include a cover letter and 2-3 writing samples.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

• Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders;    
• Displaying adherence to CME’s mission;
• Maintaining proficient knowledge of CME’s history and programs;
• Identifying grant funding opportunities;
• Researching, writing, submitting, and managing grant proposals, letters of interest, and other funding requests;       
• Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents, timely reports, and acknowledgment letters;       
• Collaborating with the Executive Director to send funders newsletters and promote on-site tours;
• Maintain records in hard copies and databases;
• Ability to work remotely and regularly meet in person with staff at CME.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in non-profit, creative writing, or related field;
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience;     
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Strong storyteller;
• Ability to write persuasively, both from the heart and with a solid grasp of data, history, and program details/statistics;      
• Outstanding analytical skills;
• Ability to create budgets;
• Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
