FLSA:                                      Exempt

Reports to:                              Director of Marketing and Communications

Supervises:                      Interns occasionally

Location:                                 Plymouth, MA; flexibility to work remotely occasionally

Salary:                                     $50,000-$58,000                                                               

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager will help to build and will implement the strategy for Jett Foundation’s marketing, brand engagement, and communications to articulate Jett Foundation’s mission and story in all new and existing relationships, positively impacting the growth and retention of donor, volunteer, family, and partner relationships.

This position will support department efforts that increase brand awareness in Jett Foundation’s annual programs, community relations, and public relations. The Marketing and Communications Manager will focus on marketing and communications efforts that directly support programmatic activities with a goal of reaching and engaging both new and existing families within the Jett Foundation community.

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for assisting in the coordination and execution of Jett Foundation’s content creation and storytelling, primarily working across key social media channels including our Blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Director to execute digital and print communications, public relations strategy, and marketing initiatives of the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

The activities and tasks the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Marketing & Communication

  • Develop and organize program-specific content for social media, website, and blog
  • Conduct interviews and draft Jett Giving Fund family highlights for Jett blog
  • Help support Jett Giving Fund families with marketing and communications related activities such as:
  • Helping to craft their family stories for fundraising pages
  • Creating flyers for their fundraisers
  • Support with PR/release drafting, media alert drafting, pitching, follow-ups
  • Support camp team in highlight camper and volunteer stories on blog
  • Support program team in managing Jett Foundation ambassadors and the messaging we would like them to share

Social Media Management and Content Development

  • Manage and organize Jett Foundation’s social calendar and social scheduling
  • Lead bi-weekly brainstorming meeting with key team members to establish content ideas for the weeks ahead, and to plan for a social media and editorial/blogging calendar.
  • Assist in creation of organization-wide social content and help to curate content from other staff and community partners/leaders
  • Help Program Team moderate Jett Foundation programmatic Facebook groups and disseminate pertinent information

Support the Director in general departmental tasks and functions such as:

  • Assisting with day-to-day website maintenance
  • Event and program photography
  • Event and program graphic design projects
  • Assist in post-event marketing and communications such as drafting and publishing event recaps and social media posts
  • Assessing and implementing new and existing marketing and communications strategies and plans

 

Qualifications

The Marketing and Communications Manager will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communications skills, with the flexibility to balance people and task assignments/focus, as required. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate compassion and empathy, a sense of humor, and high energy level, and enthusiasm for teamwork.

  • Commitment to the Jett Foundation’s mission
  • Highly collaborative style; ability to build relationships with families and individuals in the Duchenne community
  • Proven written communication skills, and a strong passion for writing both short- and long-copy;  
  • Excitement for marketing, communications, creative writing, graphic design, social media or reputation management; 
  • Mastery of social media content management tools (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Hootsuite) and with Google and Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs); 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop preferred;
  • General administrative skills including computing, organizing, planning, scheduling;
  • An entrepreneurial attitude; 
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high motivation to learn;
  • Photography experience a plus;
  • An ability to prioritize work and complete tasks with quick turnaround times as well as adapt to shifts in direction swiftly;
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a team.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related coursework
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite and social media tools
  • 2-5 years of marketing and communications experience
  • Experience in a small nonprofit preferred
