ABOUT NEW FUTURES:

New Futures is a dynamic local nonprofit with a unique approach to fighting inequity: we believe fiercely that shorter-term credentials – associate degrees or professional certifications – are an effective launch point toward rewarding, fulfilling careers. New Futures invests in our scholars with a deliberate combination of scholarships, academic and career advising, access to transformative professional networks, and a lot of heart as they jumpstart careers they love in high-growth fields that will lead to financial security and more equitable futures for all.

Since our inception, we have worked with over 450 scholars and awarded over $5 million in post-secondary scholarships. Having strengthened our approach, we are growing our team to build capacity, expand our impact, and sustain our growth.

THE POSITION:

As the Recruitment Coordinator, you will have an invaluable opportunity to support the growth of the New Futures program. Your primary responsibility will be to design, lead and manage the recruitment and selection process for the New Futures program. From student recruitment to cultivating relationships with regional organizations and schools, you will play a critical role in ensuring that New Futures achieves our bold goals to grow our impact and reach more young people across the DC region. Further, you will also advise a caseload of students, providing them with support, guidance, and accountability as they start and finish their post-secondary programs.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Assistant Director of Scholar Success.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all scholar selection logistics: Determine a timeline for selection benchmarks, update and test the online application, review applications for eligibility and lead and manage the interview process.
  • Manage the scholar selection committee: Recruit and manage internal and external stakeholders for the selection committee, plan and lead the committee orientation, and solicit feedback to strengthen the selection process.
  • Serve as the point of contact for prospective students, community partners, and other stakeholders via phone, email, and Zoom; answer questions about eligibility, applications, and the New Futures program.
  • Implement a comprehensive plan for communicating with current and prospective community and network partners; lead information sessions at partner locations for potential applicants, plan and execute training and onboarding sessions for partners, and send out partner newsletters once per quarter.
  • Collaborate with New Futures communications staff to ensure recruitment materials are up to date and accessible for prospective scholars and community partners.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Scholar Success with data and evaluation, including designing data collection systems, tracking relevant selection data, and annual analysis of recruitment and selection trends.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Scholar Success, proactively source and recommend regional organizations and schools for a partnership to further our mission and meet program goals.
  • Create financial plans for Scholar semi-finalists, draft award letters, and provide support by assigning staff advisors for all new scholars.
  • Support the onboarding and transition of new scholars to the New Futures program (Scholar Award Reception and New Scholar Orientation).
  • Maintain a caseload of Scholars, providing them with ongoing academic and career advising to ensure success in their post-secondary programs.
  • Contribute to overall scholar success program development and strategy, and provide support as needed to other programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.
