Most staff work remotely from late October to early May and onsite during the season. This position will be required to be on site for at least to 2-4 four weeks during the season (May - October) at which time meals and, if needed, housing are provided onsite.

Great Camp Sagamore currently employs 7 year-round staff members and an additional 18-20 staff members during our season (May – October). Position Overview

Great Camp Sagamore seeks an individual who is looking to grow professionally and who will help take Sagamore’s fundraising capabilities and donor relations to the next level. This position is appropriate for someone with some fundraising and development related experience who is looking for professional growth and who is interested in helping to shape an evolving and growing department.

The person who fills this role will come into a strong partnership between the executive director and the board Development Committee. This partnership has increased the organization’s fundraising and development capacity over the last three years, and we are creating this position to continue building stronger relationships with donors and to further expand our fundraising levels and capacity. Great Camp Sagamore is on a growth trajectory in all aspects of the organization, and the person who fills this position will be an integral part of this growth.

As the Development & Communications Coordinator, this person will:

  • Create the organization’s annual fundraising and development plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Development Committee
  • Keep the organization on track with its annual fundraising and development plan
  • Lead fundraising and development administration, including CRM database management and year-end tax letters for donors
  • Identify prospective donors and the full potential of current donors, and work with the Executive Director on donor and prospective donor outreach
  • Execute the annual appeal
  • Execute the annual membership campaign
  • Introduce new fundraising and development ideas and industry trends to Sagamore’s fundraising activities
  • Execute handwritten and electronic communications including thank you notes, newsletters, and fundraising appeals, and work with Sagamore’s social media coordinator to integrate social media into fundraising
  • Coordinate online and in-person fundraising and donor appreciation events
  • Assist with the organization’s annual report
  • Maintain and enlarge Sagamore’s database of grant opportunities, with the possibility of writing grants

Whoever fills this position will be responsible for:

  • Growing the recently redesigned membership program
  • Growing the recently launched legacy program

In the next 3-5 years, Great Camp Sagamore will embark on a capital campaign, and the Development & Communications Coordinator will be integral to the planning and execution of this endeavor.

This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director.

Preferred/Required Skills & Experiences

The successful Development & Communications Coordinator is a reliable and positive team member who enjoys thinking critically, strategically, and creatively, and is analytical, highly organized and detail oriented.

  • The equivalent of least 3 years of experience related to fundraising is required.
  • Experience using database systems and online platforms is required.
  • Sagamore’s CRM is Kindful, but prior experience with this particular platform is not required.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and written and oral communications skills
  • Strong computer and online skills, and working knowledge of Excel and Word are required.
  • Experience related to grants required; grant writing experience a plus.
