Development Support Specialist

​​Role and Responsibilities​ 

The primary responsibility of the Development Support Specialist (DDS) is to cultivate relationships with the mass market of our donor group. These donors typically give $1,000 or less each year. To accomplish this, you will demonstrate the ability to develop goals and strategies for all fundraising campaigns. The DDS creates the goals and directs the engagement strategies targeted towards donors below the $1,000 level specifically, as well as builds relationships with donors below the $1,000 through stewardship. DSS plans and implements special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement. Additionally, DSS requires experience in planning and executing events, strong interpersonal skills, high organizational skills, and the ability to manage and delegate to effectively utilize resources and meet key due dates. The Development Department ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has experience working in a professional environment, high attention to detail, and interest and desire to build relationships with external stakeholders. A strong candidate would have 1-3 years’ experience. 

• Ability to define the boundaries of work tasks, identify milestones to successfully achieve goals, and keep due dates for objective to complete work on time. 
• Ability to assess performance of events or fundraising activities to continuously improve them. 
• Ability to manage donor relations to keep them engaged with the agency and our mission. 
• Design effective annual fundraising campaigns to maximize the opportunity for funds raised by the agency. 
• Ability to analyze deliverables using data, feedback, and observation(s) to drive continuous improvement of events, campaigns, and donor relations. 

​​Qualifications and Education Requirements​ 

Proven track record of producing events, campaigns, or fundraising activities. At least 1 – 3 years’ experience working with donors and engaging with key stakeholders to maintain their support over time. Lived experience or education that demonstrates the ability to manage projects, write coherent communications to the public and internal constituencies.
