Overall Function

The Development Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Manager of Development Initiatives in managing high-priority strategic projects and supporting the VP for Development and Campaign with administrative functions. Additionally, they will work closely with major and institutional gift officers/coordinators, development operations staff, and mission, finance and executive team members to track and manage processes related to gift and grant acceptance, donor acknowledgements, pledge reminders, and proposal reviews. The Development Coordinator will also serve as a crucial liaison between the Development Operations team (including communications, events, stewardship and financial operations) and Mission Finance & Operations, Org Finance and the Information & Strategy teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Manager of Development Initiatives to track goal-related work, manage workflows, and perform administrative tasks for the VP of Development Operations.
  • Oversee and track processes related to gift and grant acceptance and administration, donor acknowledgements, proposal reviews, matching grants, and pledge reminders.
  • Serve as a liaison between Development Operations and Mission Finance & Operations, Org Finance, and the Information & Strategy team.
  • Prepare expense reports.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, and other interested parties.
  • Ensure that project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support donor stewardship efforts as needed.
  • Provide administrative support as needed for other members of the Development Operations team and Development Department for high priority projects.
  • Participate in department-wide initiatives, projects, meetings, retreats and events.
  • Participates in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
  • Other related tasks as needed.
  • 20% or less of travel is expected for this position.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years relevant work experience or equivalent overall work experience required.
  • Experience with fundraising databases and donor reporting strongly preferred. Salesforce is a plus.
  • Experience with project management software preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, self-starter attitude, and keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with fundraising best practices preferred.
  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced work environment — and ability to get up to speed quickly, solve problems independently, and juggle multiple assignments to complete tasks on time.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivation to develop relationships and work collaboratively across the department and organization.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in the use of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
