Founded in 1876, The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) is a youth development organization with the mission to empower boys and young men, ages 7 to 21, by providing effective programs and a supportive community. Job Summary

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer is responsible for raising $7M annually, and will work to increase revenue substantially over the next five years, including the potential for planning and implementing a capital campaign. The Chief Development Officer will lead the development team, and personally oversee major gifts and corporate sponsorship. The Chief Development Officer will lead the overall development strategy, and will serve as an integral member of the executive management team.

Responsibilities

· Build and foster a culture of philanthropy organization-wide

· Collaborate with Executive and Program staff to develop a comprehensive development strategy to meet BCNY’s current and future program needs

· Set annual fundraising goals for individual giving, special events, foundation and government giving, and corporate sponsorship

· Ensure the success of fundraising programs

· Lead the department’s major gift fundraising efforts, and oversee a portfolio of current and prospective donors who have the capacity to make gifts at the $10,000+ level

· Engage, motivate, and effectively support the Board of Trustees and Women’s Board’s fundraising and outreach efforts

· Serve as the main point of contact for the Women’s Board and oversee Women’s Board meetings

· Staff the Board of Trustees Development Committee and the Women’s Board Executive Committee and Nominating Committee

· Oversee corporate sponsorships and work with Director of Special Events to identify, cultivate, and secure new corporate partners and sponsors for events

· Oversee Development expense budget and reporting and information management, including strict discipline and practice regarding the fundraising database

· Maintain accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals

· Provide overall leadership to the development team, and motivate, inspire, manage, and develop staff so they are informed and committed to working effectively toward continual process improvement

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred

· Minimum 10 years progressively responsible development experience, with demonstrated success meeting annual fundraising goals

· Successful track-record leading teams and developing strategy

· Experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding six and seven figure gifts

· Experience with planning and implementing capital campaigns

· Extensive knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts, corporate sponsorship, special events, foundation and government grants, annual fund, and capital campaigns

· Adept in fostering relationships with high net worth donors and staff at all levels

· Strong interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to influence others to take action

· The ability to motivate and work effectively and diplomatically across diverse teams within an organization

· Proven ability to foster a collaborative and collegial work environment within and across departments

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to inspire trust and confidence with a wide range of stakeholders within and outside of the organization

· Must have a passion for BCNY’s mission, core values, and strategic priorities
