The Dog Aging Institute is excited to hire our first Marketing and Development Manager. This 501(c)(3) non-profit was inspired by the power of the human-canine bond and the groundbreaking work of the Dog Aging Project and other canine research projects. The Dog Aging Institute promotes, supports and sustains ethical, non-invasive, volunteer research into healthy aging in companion dogs by generating financial resources, facilitating partnerships, and conducting educational initiatives. Funds raised by the Institute are allocated to enable groundbreaking research, share findings, and use new knowledge to benefit dogs, their owners, the veterinary community, and beyond.
Founded in 2023, The Dog Aging Institute has successfully raised funds for research through the committed work of volunteers and staff. At The Dog Aging Institute, your work will directly support scientific breakthroughs that help dogs live healthier, happier, longer lives—and by extension, it will enrich the human experience as well.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative Marketing and Development Manager who will be responsible for implementing the promotional and fundraising strategies that sustain and amplify The Dog Aging Institute’s impact. The Institute is a small, young, and robust nonprofit, and The Marketing and Development Manager will have a wide variety of related duties across promotional and development domains.

Responsibilities:
Manage and execute fundraising
- Co-design long- and short-term marketing and fundraising plans and execute them.
- Lead our team in defining and enhancing the organization brand.
- Manage content development for fundraising campaigns, mass mailings, and other outreach.
- Oversee new merchandise and donor premium items with third-party suppliers.
- Execute marketing initiatives toward expanding the donor base and enhancing social media profiles and web traffic.
- Oversee selection of and transition to an updated CRM database as needed, manage ongoing data entry and cleanup (current tool is GiveButter).
- Contribute to refinement of messaging and development of style guidelines.
- Take on a co-leadership role by collaborating with other leading stakeholders to fill the role of MGO and work on prospect research, major donor cultivation, curated asks, and corporate sponsorships.
- Assist with identifying grant opportunities and proposal writing.
- Manage analytics and report out accordingly, advancing data-driven campaigns and strategies.
Communication with donors, other stakeholders and the public
- Document and leverage organizational impact through routine reports, email communications, website, social media and an annual Impact Report.
- Lead production of a periodic newsletter by assisting with and managing content, design, and distribution through platforms such as Mailchimp.
- Manage content development and updates for social media sites and social media campaigns.
- Maintain a comprehensive donor stewardship program, including timely acknowledgements, giving circles, recognition, etc.
- Make scientific content accessible to the general public.
- Produce related collateral as needed.
- Co-lead on earned media opportunities.
- Respond to some incoming emails as needed, including fielding general development inquiries, and ensuring consistency in messaging and voice.
Database Management and Tech
- Become a super-user of the Institute’s donor CRM platform, implementing and guiding best practice for leveraging the system in fundraising, data reporting, stewardship functions, and integrated use with other adopted platforms.
- Document all fundraising activities using donor data management software and provide day-to-day management of the donor CRM, including generating reports and tracking donor activities.
- Track and assist in the fulfillment of corporate and foundation sponsorship activities.
- Create, prepare, and run donation and reconciliation reports regularly and as requested.
- Co-manage website, updates, content, and SEO.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of relevant fundraising and marketing experience in a nonprofit setting.
- Strong organizational skills: ability to set priorities and manage deadlines while maintaining careful attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work independently with disciplined time management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to enable the building of effective relationships and communication with colleagues, current donors, prospective donors, and volunteers.
- Fluency with digital technologies, including but not limited to donor CRMs and marketing automation platforms/email and SMS marketing services, database management systems, desktop publishing apps and graphic design tools, Excel, Microsoft suite, and Google suite.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with impeccable discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team, take initiative, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to sometimes change work hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis (5 %), as needed.
- Commitment to the cause of dogs everywhere.
In short, the successful candidate will be someone who can “do it all” and shift from task to task seamlessly and independently, working closely with the Executive Director and other stakeholders.
