TITLE: Director of Individual Giving

REPORTS TO: Chief Community Impact Officer
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the process of solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship of gifts from individual donors as well as maintaining a strong pipeline of prospects. This position is responsible and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.
Individual Giving
1. Develops and implements strategies to grow revenue in Major Gifts, Direct Mail, Annual Giving, Online Gifts and Workplace giving as well as the number of donors engaged in our $1,000+ Ambassadors Circle and Legacy Society giving clubs.
2. Works with the Development Coordinator, write, and execute direct mail program as well as additional email fundraising campaigns.
3. Plans and leads year-round donor engagement events to attract, cultivate, and steward current and prospective donors to Goodwill, including tours, donor gatherings, Matching Gifts, etc.
4. Prioritizes donor meetings and requests for funding, aligning their interests with the goals and vision for the Goodwill mission.
5. Creates and manages the Individual Giving budget (revenue and expenses) and evaluates the success of all Individual Giving programs, while making continuous improvements to all initiatives as appropriate.
6. Contributes to the growth of planned giving programs, implementing new strategies and protocols to attract new bequests.
7. Works with Chief Executive Office/Community Impact Team to provide support to the Board for fundraising initiatives.
8. Works closely with the marketing team and leads the development department’s efforts to build strong tools and donor engagement through online giving.
9. Oversee Goodwill’s Employee Giving and Combined Federal Campaigns.
1. Develops and implements Goodwill’s stewardship program to ensure all donors receive prompt and appropriate acknowledgment for their gifts.
2. Maintains appropriate and relevant donor relationship data, including demographic information, donor interests, volunteer and stewardship activities, etc.
3. Works with all members of the team to research and develop personalized giving plans and maintains a strong pipeline of donors.
1. Develops and leads the execution of the team’s strategic plan and annual budget.
2. Provides significant support in implementation of special events.
3. Remains current on best practices in fundraising through independent study, participation in seminars, workshops, and courses.
4. Manages the Development Coordinator.
5. Ensures that all implemented projects align with Goodwill’s values: Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.
6. Other duties as assigned.
This position has supervisory responsibility of the Development Coordinator.
1. BA/BS required, advanced degree and/or CFRE a plus.
2. Required knowledge of and experience with Raiser’s Edge donor data
3. 7+ years of fundraising experience.
4. History of following ethical fundraising practices.
5. Attention to detail and ability to work without supervision.
6. Professional demeanor, flexible and able to respond to multiple demands.
7. Strong organizational, administration, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
8. Proven experience cultivating a mid-tier giving program, stewarding and moving donors into higher levels of giving.
9. Sound knowledge of industry trends, ethical and best practices.
10. Experience generating and analyzing fundraising reports and proven success analyzing statistics and recognizing opportunities or challenges.
11. Comfort interacting with senior management.
12. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
13. Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Demands
Sedentary Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Limited General office environment infrequently exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise, fumes, dust, etc.)
