ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Watershed Coordinator is assigned as the lead person for the
Safe Clean Water Program in the Upper San Gabriel River Watershed Area; duties and responsibilities of Watershed Coordinators center around connecting potential Regional Program applicants with technical resources and building inclusion and meaningful engagement in pursuit of SCW Program Goals. Oversees Safe Clean Water Program Contract, submits monthly reports to the LA County Flood Control District, meets with existing coalitions and collaboratives to conduct community engagement, education and develop new stormwater capture projects in the Upper San Gabriel River Watershed Area.
DUTIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS.
Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning/studies, political science, environmental science, public policy or relevant field; a minimum of 2 years experience in program management; strong project management, communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills; excellent written and verbal presentation skills; a self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills; proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizes tasks, and follow projects to completion on schedule; strategic planning and program design/development experience; desire to work in a team environment; flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit; professional, positive, work ethic.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of environmental justice, regional water resource issues and other community needs in the San Gabriel Valley; a skillset to facilitate meetings and engagement efforts with a variety of interested parties; ability to provide guidance and instruction to co-workers and to effectively lead a small work team; plan, organize and implement outreach and engagement activities; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with City staff, schools, neighborhood and community groups, and environmental advocacy groups; ability to work with and manage youth group; communicate and work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds and assist them in using available resources; prepare and present clear concise oral and written reports; assess and comprehend community problems and recommend and implement appropriate courses of action.
