Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Hours: Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours

West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH)—established in 1979 and one of the largest and most successful food pantries in New York City—provides emergency food assistance and supportive services, including access to benefits like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), to low-income New York families. West Side Campaign Against Hunger’s mission is to alleviate hunger by ensuring all New Yorkers have access with dignity to a choice of healthy food and supportive services.

WSCAH is seeking a full-time Community Benefits Access (Social Services) Team Supervisor/Manager to oversee the work of our social services department. This position oversees a team of four community resource counselors and four part-time customer service liaisons who work to connect our community of customers to vital benefits such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), health insurance, rental assistance programs, etc. This position will also work closely with the Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement to identify and implement internal and external opportunities to collaboratively drive innovation and organizational growth.

The salary range is $60,000 – $65,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

● Responsible for direct oversight of Community Resource Specialists and Customer Support team

● Provide 1:1 supervision to staff members

● Conduct regular trainings to staff on topics related to their roles

● Support the Director of Partnerships and Community Engagement in expanding and sustaining partnerships that will most benefit our customers 

● Monitor grant and departmental performance outcomes and support Community Resource Specialists to troubleshoot barriers to achieving individual goals

● Assist with the writing of reports for funders and other key stakeholders

● Oversee WSCAH’s customer database (Salesforce), including data accuracy, data management, and retrieving reports

● Create and share weekly, monthly and quarterly data reports as requested

● Support the design and implementation of a new customer management system

● Foster an environment in which teamwork and cross-program collaboration is practiced and valued

While the following experience and skills are preferred, applicants are encouraged to apply even if they don’t currently meet all the listed qualifications.

● BS/BA required

● At least two years of direct supervisory experience preferred

● Proficient in spoken and written English and Spanish

● Experience with benefits access and in-depth knowledge of SNAP, Health Insurance, and other HRA benefits required

● Experience with and commitment to working with low-income families and individuals

● Passionate about creating change with the ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions to maximize organizational impact

● Great communication skills with the ability to motivate colleagues

● Strong customer service and conflict avoidance/resolution skills

● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

● Strong organizational and multitasking skills

● Experience overseeing grants and managing deliverables

● Working knowledge of Salesforce required

● Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant software
