Part-time Clinical Supervisor

General Summary: 

This position is responsible for helping support and facilitate the learning of the next generation of therapists in Portland, OR. William Temple House is looking for a licensed clinician to provide clinical supervision to students pursuing their Master of Counseling in various disciplines.  

 

William Temple House is one of the most sought-after internship sites among counseling students in our region and trains students completing master’s degrees in Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work. This position will include facilitating group and individual supervision for interns, shadowing client sessions, and providing on-site support during clinic hours.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervision of interns in programs which align with this position’s license. 
  • Provide case consultation, training, and supervision regularly and as needed when crisis or emergency intervention is required. 
  • Administer quarterly student evaluations to appropriate schools. 
  • Provide site supervision to maintain security of work site. 
  • Maintain ethical and legal standards for counselors and social workers.   
  • Assist in the collection and reporting of program outcomes and incorporate into continuous program improvements. 
  • Deal with extremes of clients’ behavior to include suicide, psychosis and other challenges common to mental health clinics.  
  • Know and operationalize reporting laws. 
  • Participate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative including serving as an active participant of workgroup(s). 
  • Participate in annual department planning and strategic planning. 
  • Attend staff meetings. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications and skills: 

  • Master’s Degree required in counseling or related clinical field required. 
  • Must have at least 2 post-master’s years of clinical experience. 
  • Licensed LPC, LMFT or LMSW/LCSW preferred; if the applicant has at least 2 years of post-master’s experience, LPC-A, LMFT-A, and CSWA will be considered.  
  • Experience with supervision, both group and individual preferred. 
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required. 
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals through leadership, motivational, and conflict resolution skills.   
  • Must have suicide intervention skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases. 
  • Commitment to racial and economic justice, equitable practices, and inclusive decision making; ability to collaboratively lead equity work.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to details, and a genuine interest in service to the community.   

 

A Plus, But Not Required  

  • Lived experience related to being a person of color, LGBTQIA+, having a disability, living in poverty, being an immigrant, or being part of a marginalized community.  
  • Bi-cultural and/or bi-lingual. 
  • Knowledge of available resources in the community for further referral of clients. 

 

Work Environment

  • The Counseling Department is open Monday through Fridays and clients are seen on-site and virtually from 9am-9pm most days, this position would require evening hours. 
  • This job operates in an office environment and requires use of phones, computers, fax machine, copier and other office equipment.

Physical Demands: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and work in front of a computer monitor. Involves reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  
  • This position works in a building without an elevator and the individual must be able to navigate stairs.
