    Little Island seeks an Engagement and Workforce Development Manager to join the Education and Community Relations team. Reporting to the Director of Engagement and Strategic Programs, the Engagement and Workforce Development Manager is accountable to ensuring that the department’s public programs, workforce development initiatives, and community partnerships are designed and implemented with excellence in service to advancing the mission and values of Little Island. This role will oversee the teaching artists and administrative staff of the Education and Community Relations department to support the execution of their individual programs and initiatives, and partner closely with their executive leader to ensure that the organization’s vision for educational programming and community partnerships is being integrated into all short-term and long-term planning and projects within the department. 

    The ideal Engagement and Workforce Development Manager is a culturally competent self-starter who is invested in cultivating meaningful relationships with staff, community members, and artists. They balance strong administrative and project management skills with presentation and facilitation skills and bring a passion for arts access and social change to the delivery of all programs and projects. Candidates with experience supervising education staff and building educational and community outreach programs are encouraged to apply.  

    What You’ll Do

    • Partner closely with the Director of Engagement and Strategic Programs on the execution and delivery of departmental goals and priorities. Key responsibilities include: 
    • Co-creating the departmental programming and developing the associated programming calendar to ensure all departmental planning and resources (staff, materials, and scale of programs) can be delivered in service to strategically leveraging the vision and resources of Little Island and its community partners 
    • Managing and facilitating weekly department meetings in service to ensuring alignment on departmental short-term and long-term goals and priorities 
    • Managing and supporting the day-to-day work of the Community Programs Associate and Assistant Manager of Workforce Development, ensuring all programs and priorities are managed in service to a sustainable department structure 
    • Overseeing the departmental budget in partnership with other Education and Community Relations staff, collaborating closely with Finance as needed 
    • Overseeing the contracting process with external vendors 
    • Creating and implementing tools and systems to assess key programs and partnerships, both for the department and pertinent organization-wide data 
    • Support the Director in the facilitation of Little Island’s Accessibility working group to align on vision and strategies for accessibility, and collaborating across the organization to identify goals and key metrics to measure the success and progress of accessibility initiatives at Little Island 
    • Organize and leverage key data to build presentations and storytelling narratives for both internal and external stakeholders in partnership with the Communications Manager and the Director of Engagement and Strategic Programs 
    • Collaborate closely with the Artistic Programming and Operations departments to ensure all Education and Community Relations programs are being planned and executed in service to the larger organization and workforce development goals 
    • Partner with the Assistant Manager of Workforce Development and Human Resources department to ensure the development and execution of all workforce development initiatives, workshops, and partnerships are consistent with organization-wide recruitment and personnel practices 
    • Oversee Little Island’s teaching artists, collaborating with the Community Programs Associate to ensure all teaching artists are supported and tracking with organization-wide protocols and information 
    • Manage and support special projects related to new workforce development programs and training development as assigned, partnering directly with the Director of Engagement and Strategic Programs to build and maintain an organization-wide approach to teaching, training, and learning 
    • Other duties and tasks related to the park and its operations as assigned
