South Asian SOAR is looking for a remote, contract-based Communications & Advocacy Fellow to start immediately through October 2022.
South Asian SOAR (SOAR) is a collective of survivors, organizations, and allies building a national movement for joy, healing, and justice in the South Asian diaspora. We seek to dismantle and transform the culture and conditions that lead to violence by building the capacity, voice, and leadership of survivors, communities, and organizations. With our collective power and action, we will reimagine and create new systems that uphold care and healing.
Over the past year, we’ve built a network of 30+ organizations, launched our pilot survivor storytelling program, and launched national research and data collection initiatives.
The purpose of SOAR’s research and content is to uplift the voices of South Asian survivors and organizations, amplify SOAR’s programming, and to provide political and cultural education. We share this with the aim of creating change, building power, and supporting collective healing. survival, power, and healing.
This summer, SOAR is amplifying the often-invisibilized issue of gender-based violence in South Asian communities by launching its inaugural report.
We’re seeking a Communications Fellow to manage the communications around the launch and publication of this national report. The Communications Fellow will also manage SOAR’s content across multiple platforms, including growing its social media, supporting the launch of its blog, and growing its media presence.
This is a short-term, contract position with the possibility of growing into a full-time role.
