Status:  Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

Location: On-site in San Francisco Bay Area with remote (local) flexibility during off-drive season.

Want to help make a difference in the lives of thousands of Bay Area children and families in need? Family Giving Tree (FGT), a highly regarded nonprofit, is looking for a passionate and dedicated Email & Community Marketer who will enhance a robust and growth-focused marketing program. 

Summary of position:

The Email & Community Marketing Coordinator will primarily be responsible for email marketing and managing the FGT Community Events Program. The candidate will have fresh ideas on the best means to communicate FGT messages and keep the organization foremost in the minds of our volunteers, supporters, and partners through creative and on-brand email and events strategies and initiatives. At the same time, they will always strive to broaden FGT's influence, contribute to longer-term strategic planning, and help drive FGT's future marketing direction.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage FGT's email marketing program and presence:

• Determine email strategy and subsequent campaign timing and flow.

• Direct email activity in alliance with social media and development team members and maintain an organization-wide marketing calendar.

• Maintain email database.

• Work with Development to build relationships with our donors through creating fun and engaging donor communications, fundraising appeals, and email journeys.

• Track back-end reports and results, investigate analytics across multiple sites and make adjustments to increase open rates, click-throughs and conversions.

• Collaborate with Content Creator and other team members to create fresh and informative email communications.

Re-establish and grow the Community Events program, which entails finding relevant public events and managing FGT's presence there, including staffing. These events occur around the Bay Area, typically in the warmer months, and are often on weekends. 

Keep the FGT blog fresh with posts that help educate our community about our mission and news related to partner agencies and internal clients, in collaboration with other marketing team members.

Oversee the general marketing calendar in support of all marketing functions: social, email, events, blog, and donor development. This is a collaborative role with other stakeholders.

Curate our stories program and image archive for cross-company use and communications.

Foster strong relationships with partner school and agency contacts to grow the Empowerment Panel program.

Assist with other marketing needs, including, but not limited to, annual collateral updates, vendor oversight and management, attendance and assistance at Corporate Build events, and work at the warehouse during Drive times.

Take photos/videos for agency and other story creation and sharing platforms. Perform basic video editing and reel/short video creation.

Perform other duties as assigned/needed.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

-In-depth experience with Mail Chimp or similar email application

-Bachelor's degree with a focus on marketing communications, digital marketing, advertising, or a similar field preferred or:

-Minimum of 3 years of marketing communications experience. 

-Excellent writing skills and a good sense of design.

-Google Analytics experience, including the creation of events.

-Must be a creative self-starter who anticipates the need and can plan and execute with minimal supervision.

-Ability to build internal relationships and support other teams such as Operations, Development, and Leadership.

-Comfortable representing the organization externally and presenting to large and small groups.

-Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multitask, and attention to detail. Projects often require a 'quick-turn' on short notice.

-Ability to plan calendars that mesh with all FGT activities.

-Approach challenges with a problem-solving and growth mindset

-Competent in using all Google and Microsoft Office Suite of tools. Familiarity with Asana, Canva, Slack, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

-Possess a clean driving record with a current license.

-Self-motivated and detail-oriented. Strong prioritization, organizational, and time management skills.

Work Schedule

The position requires 40 hours per week Monday-Friday, with additional responsibilities, including various support roles during Drive times in June-August and November-December. Vacations are traditionally not scheduled in November or December, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks. July and August vacations are dependent on the workload.

The employee may lift and move up to 25 pounds. Employees may be required to use their vehicle for work, travel to and from meetings, and transport FGT collateral materials, gifts, or donations. Must have a good driving record and be insured or have the ability to use public transportation to attend meetings and gatherings.
