Genesys Works is a national leader in providing pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships. Operating in seven regions across the country, we are positioning ourselves for future growth and have an exciting opportunity for a strategic business leader to join the Bay Area team as Director of Development.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director (“ED”), the Director of Development serves as a member of the Bay Area site’s senior leadership team. Working closely with the Board of Advisors and staff, they will hold primary responsibility for creating and managing a multi-year development plan designed to meet the organization’s annual contributed income budget (approximately $1M), primarily through the solicitation of institutional gifts, with a secondary focus on major gifts, special events, marketing communication and volunteer coordination. It is expected that the amount raised by Genesys Work Bay Area (GWBA) will increase in future years as the Director of Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.

The Development Director manages the Development & Operations Coordinator (part-time role) who supports grant management, administration and social media content creation.

  • Work in collaboration with Genesys Works National Marketing to increase brand awareness in the market
  • Manage social media channels for Genesys Works Bay Area, supported by a Development & Operations Coordinator

  • Collaborate with Genesys Works National to develop Genesys Works Bay Area Annual Report
  • Work with the ED and the Corporate Partnerships team to increase the number of partners engaging in both earned and contributed revenue
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, manage communication and stewardship of the local Board of Advisors

  • Ensure best practice use of analytics, data, and metrics to forecast and track progress and success of fundraising goals, strategies, and tactics
  • Lead team member for project managing annual (sponsored) events
  • Management, reporting, and invoicing for government grants in partnership with National DevOps Team

Experience

  • Five to seven years of professional experience in a development role in a nonprofit organization
  • Demonstrated success in growing a development function
