Founded in 1999, BUILD’s mission is to use entrepreneurship to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities and equip them for high school, college and career success. BUILD’s unique program offers students a four-year entrepreneurship experience designed to develop 21st Century Skills and motivate student engagement in school. Starting in 9th grade, BUILD students work with their peers and community mentors to develop business ideas, pitch to funders and launch real businesses. As students journey through high school and continue to grow their businesses, BUILD helps them explore college and career options, and assists students with the college application process. Entrepreneurship is the hook – college, career, and life success are the goals.


BUILD currently serves approximately 2,000 high school students annually at programs located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, New York City and Boston.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Entrepreneurship 1 (E1) & Entrepreneurship 2 (E2) Program Managers, the E2 Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for supporting students in the program, and data needs of the team who implement BUILD’s entrepreneurship-based program in partner high schools in Oakland, CA. The PC will support many facets of the program including communication with BUILD students and families, providing operations support, and managing data collection and entry related to the students in our program. The PC will gain a deep understanding of program delivery, data management, and student engagement strategies in the non-profit profit spaces. 


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Program Operations and Data Management
  • Work closely with Program Manager to ensure seamless support of program implementation across schools and program years including ordering, organizing and distributing supplies and materials related to curriculum and instruction and program implementation 
  • Coordinate and support logistics and technology for student business operations and record-keeping
  • Outreach to students and families related to support, attendance, paperwork, events, etc.
  • Coordinate logistics and data entry of mentor paperwork, background checks and attendance
  • Collect and enter program data with accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage collection of necessary student and school paperwork and ensure it is completed and on file for operational and legal compliance
  • Coordinate back end tracking of student business team financials 


Candidate Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience preferably working in education or youth development, nonprofit management, volunteer-focused organizations or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in managing events preferred
  • Experience with and/or interest in program data and evaluation, database management such as Salesforce or similar preferred 
  • Knowledge of the Oakland, CA community a plus
  • Local college student or BUILD alumni preferred

Position Details:

  • Full Time
  • Location: Oakland CA
  • Typical program operation hours are Monday – Thursday, approximately 10:00am – 7:00pm Additional morning, evening and weekend hours are also required to fulfill the duties of this position.
  • Frequent travel between local sites is required, so employees must have their own vehicle for transportation (valid license and proof of insurance required). Work-related travel beyond the normal commute will be reimbursed.


Compensation:

This role is budgeted for $50,000 annually. BUILD offers a competitive compensation & benefits package for eligible employees. This includes medical, dental & vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, and a 403(b) plan. In addition, BUILD employees are eligible for generous paid vacation, sick time, 11 paid holidays per year, a flexible work environment, and performance bonuses.
