    The Executive Director (ED) will serve as Georgia's Friends' chief executive officer, responsible for overseeing the organization's administration, programs, and strategic planning. This individual will work closely with the Board of Directors to lead the organization into its next phase of strategic development, ensuring the fulfillment of its mission and vision. The ED must have some understanding of addiction recovery and be ready to step in and assist with operations in the event of an emergency or staff absence, ensuring continuity of care and support for programming needs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SUCCESS

    • Strategic Leadership:
      • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan that advances the organization’s mission and goals.
      • Guide the organization through growth while ensuring program stability and sustainability.
      • Act as a bridge between the Board of Directors and staff, ensuring that board decisions are translated into actionable steps.
      • Success Tip: Be adept at balancing innovation with operational realities —introduce new ideas that align with community needs and available resources.
    • Program Oversight and Hands-on Support:
      • Ensure effective implementation and evaluation of programs, particularly Georgia’s House, to meet the needs of women in recovery.
      • Be prepared to step in and provide on-site support during emergencies or staffing shortages.
      • Success Tip: Cultivate cross-training to strengthen your team's ability to handle unexpected absences.
    • Fundraising and Financial Management:
      • Develop and execute fundraising strategies, including securing grants and cultivating donor relationships.
      • Manage organizational finances, including preparing annual budget, tax reports, tax audits, and maintaining compliance.
      • Success Tip: To succeed, you'll need to present financial reports and funding strategies in ways that inspire confidence and transparency.
    • Community Engagement and Advocacy:
      • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, enhancing its public image to expand interest and support.
      • Build strong, lasting relationships with community partners, donors, and stakeholders.
      • Act as a public advocate for women’s recovery and mental health services, engaging with media and attending events to amplify the organization's voice.
      • Success Tip: Success depends on your ability to listen actively and authentically convey the organization's story and impact to diverse audiences.
    • Operational and Team Management:
      • Oversee daily operations and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission.
      • Foster a collaborative, resilient culture within a small, dedicated team.
      • Provide mentorship, professional development, and cross-functional support.
      • Create a culture of care and accountability that reflects the organization’s values and promotes staff retention.
      • Success Tip: Be approachable and solution-oriented to support your team’s growth and effectively intervene when challenges arise.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Preferred but not required: Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in nonprofit leadership, program management, or social services will be strongly considered.
    • A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience, with a track record of leading and scaling programs.
    • Proven success in fundraising, including securing grants and cultivating donor relationships.
    • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, decision-making, and reporting.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and inspire a team.
