Development Associate, West Region (based in AZ, CA or NV)

The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is a global education nonprofit providing high-quality entrepreneurship education to middle and high school students. We are looking for a motivated and collaborative professional with strong communication and organizational skills to join our Advancement team and support all fundraising for the West Region. The Development Associate reports to the Development Director, West Region. The Development Associate supports relationships and grants management with NFTE donors, database management, volunteerism, events, and communications. This role will have the opportunity to develop their fundraising, communications, and relationship management skills as well as contribute to a significant impact on the lives of students across the region.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Support the management of the West Region’s donor portfolio and pipeline including corporate, foundation, board, and individual donors; ensure grant writing deliverables are accomplished on time and in the highest quality manner.
• Serve as the primary administrator for database management and timely tracking of all fundraising data via Raiser’s Edge, and volunteers on Salesforce. Includes data entry, reporting, monitoring outstanding pledges, and creating queries and statistical reports on donor trends.
• Document notes and actions for Advisory Board, Committees and Events. Lead efforts in planning meetings, sending reminders, coordinating catering, and list of action items.
• Assist with all of the West Region’s events, primarily including the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge finals event(s) for sponsorships, judges, keynote/panel speakers, invitations, etc. in partnership with the Development Director, regional board(s), and national Events team; other events may include donor cultivation/fundraising events, Road to Nationals events, Youth Entrepreneurship Summits, and others as determined
• Assist with creation of fundraising and marketing materials including but not limited to end of year campaign, fundraising events, volunteer engagement, and social media (Instagram, LinkedIn)
• Responsible for social media content and assist in execution of the social media strategy

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or a minimum 2-5 years of experience fundraising in the West Region or other relevant experience, emphasis on grant writing and individual fundraising preferred
• Strong organizational and administrative skills a must
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter with good judgement and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Excellent communication skills a must, both written and verbal, with an ability to clearly articulate complex programs, create exciting partnership opportunities, and report on progress and outcomes
• Positive attitude with customer service orientation and willingness to “roll up shirtsleeves” as a fundraising generalist to get the work done
• Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to NFTE’s mission and core values
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required; experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce preferred
• Grant writing experience preferred but not required
• Social media experience strongly preferred
• Ability to connect NFTE’s work and partnerships into the larger landscape of inter-related issues within education, employment, youth, and economic development.

Working Environment:

• The position must be based in the West Region, Los Angeles, CA area strongly preferred.
• This position is remote – utilizing the employee’s home office
• Applicants may come from any of the following states in which NFTE is currently able to support payroll: AZ, CA, & NV
• The position will travel as necessary, locally and regionally, and potentially nationally
• Relocation assistance is not available for this role
