The Finance Director at Emmanuel Gospel Center (EGC) is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial strategy, systems, and reporting, ensuring financial integrity and stability. This role plays a critical part in advancing EGC’s mission by combining high-level financial strategy with hands-on financial management, overseeing everything from budget planning to daily accounting tasks. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Director serves as a key advisor, driving financial planning, risk management, and operational efficiency across EGC’s diverse portfolio of programs and fiscal sponsorship partnerships. With an annual budget of approximately $3 million and 30 cost centers, this role requires expertise in managing complex nonprofit financial systems. This role is ideal for a finance professional who can seamlessly shift between strategic oversight and the hands-on work essential to EGC’s financial health.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Finance Director will report to the Executive Director. Their duties include:
Financial Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and implement EGC’s financial strategy, aligning with organizational goals and mission-driven priorities.
- Advise the Executive Director and leadership team on financial matters, including cash flow, financial planning, and budget forecasting.
- Develop and oversee the annual budgeting process in collaboration with departments to align budgets with EGC’s strategic priorities.
- Present financial analysis and recommendations to the leadership team and Board, providing insights for informed decision-making.
Operational Financial Management
- Directly oversee and manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management, in collaboration with the Bookkeeper.
- Establish and maintain effective financial management policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and compliant financial practices.
- Generate monthly departmental reports to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders.
- Manage the organization’s banking, investments, and cash reserves, ensuring prudent financial stewardship.
- Provide fiduciary oversight for EGC’s fiscal sponsorship partners, offering guidance on budget management, compliance, and financial grant reporting.
Systems Development and Process Improvement
- Design and implement financial systems that increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability across financial functions.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, identifying ways to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Audit and Compliance Support
- Lead annual audit preparation, either directly or in collaboration with external CPA/accounting support, ensuring compliance and readiness.
- Utilize strategic contractors, as needed, for audit preparation and other key compliance activities, ensuring effective use of time and resources without requiring additional permanent hires.
Team Supervision and Development
- Oversee and support the Bookkeeper, providing mentorship and creating a collaborative, growth-oriented work environment.
- Ensure team alignment with EGC’s values and strategic objectives, setting clear goals and expectations for financial operations.
- Facilitate professional development within the finance team to build expertise in nonprofit financial management and EGC’s mission-driven context.
Organizational Impact and Risk Management
- Conduct regular assessments of financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate those risks, safeguarding EGC’s resources.
- Collaborate with leadership to align financial operations with organizational strategies, funding goals, and programmatic impact.
General Responsibilities
Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, participating in staff-associated activities such as weekly staff meetings, soul care retreats, and participating as well as helping to lead staff prayer times. In addition, this position also supports and assists, as needed, with various events such as EGC’s annual fundraiser, dinners, or other events.
SKILLS, QUALITIES & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive financial management experience, ideally within the nonprofit sector, with a proven record of strategic leadership and operational oversight.
- Comprehensive understanding of nonprofit finance, accounting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong hands-on experience in managing accounting and financial functions, including budgeting and reporting.
- Proficiency with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with donor management systems is a plus.
- Self-motivated to pursue professional development in areas of responsibility

COMPENSATION
We offer a salary range of $100,000-$120,000 annually for this full-time position, including medical and dental coverage, a 4% retirement contribution after one year, four weeks of vacation annually, and a sabbatical policy rewarding long-term commitment.
This position offers hybrid work arrangements with required in-office meetings, requiring candidates to be local.
