Who are the Girl Scouts?

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is the largest Girl Scout Council in the country. It provides girls in grades K-12 with opportunities to learn new skills, make friends, and discover the power of girls together. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls.

Your Next Excellent Adventure

We are looking for an Annual Giving Specialist who can help us successfully renew and grow our annual gifts with the goal of raising $800K to $1 million annually through existing and new revenue streams. Our annual campaign, SHARE Your Love of Girl Scouting, provides girls with the opportunity to achieve their true potential. Working with an excellent and extensive team of volunteers, these fundraising efforts financially support our outdoor camps, our girls, and our volunteers, including financial assistance to make Girl Scouting accessible to all.

Here’s What You Will Be Doing

  • Training, motivating and managing fundraising volunteers and empowering them to make “asks” in their communities.
  • Recommending strategies that will retain and upgrade new and former donors.
  • Being a coach and cheerleader for the annual campaign volunteer leadership team.
  • Creating and managing the direct mail appeals, and several smaller campaign solicitations.
  • Planning small- and large-scale events for donors.
  • Creating reports and tracking fundraising for annual campaign.
  • Providing excellent customer service for donors, members, and annual campaign volunteers.

Let’s Talk About You!

  • You’re passionate about girl leadership.
  • You want to launch or expand your career in fundraising and nonprofits.
  • You have earned a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent related work experience.
  • You’ve successfully managed and met goals of an annual grassroots campaign.
  • You get compliments on your excellent written and oral communication skills and excel at public presentations.
  • You are experienced working with large groups of volunteers and committees.
  • You’ve planned events with great attention to detail, including working with outside vendors.
  • You have two nicknames: “Multi-Tasking” and “Uber-Organized.”
  • You work well with your team, other teams, small donors, large donors, volunteers…everyone!
  • You have access to an automobile for regional travel.
  • You may have been a Girl Scout or a Girl Scout volunteer (but if not, it’s not a deal-breaker).
  • You have a keen sense for technology, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Zoom.
  • You may have experience with DonorPerfect or a similar donor database and online giving platforms (but if not, you’ll use your technology sense to learn it quickly).
