    WHO WE ARE:

    In New York City, our goal is to build community and opportunity for immigrant youth, ultimately fostering systemic change for immigrant families and school systems. We strive to mitigate the impact of stress, trauma, and adversity on migrant youth and their entire learning community, including school staff, caregivers, and volunteers.

    Glasswing has worked with migrant communities in Latin America for 17 years. We witness, firsthand, the emotional and social impact of migration and deportation, partnering with receiving centers to train workers on trauma-informed care for returning migrants, especially migrant youth. This perspective allows us to approach our New York City program with an empathetic and trauma-informed approach to the complexities of migration.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    Glasswing International USA is seeking a motivated program coordinator with an interest in education, youth, and immigration. The program coordinator will directly coordinator and facilitate various on-going, weekly, activities during and after-school at Glasswing's partner New York City public high schools. including facilitating various on-going activities and family engagements for the school year for participating children and their families.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Sustain- and deepen- current program and activities aligned with Glasswing’s mission and goals.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the program in two high schools, including: managing volunteers, networking with school partners to strengthen relationships, and sustaining rapport with students.
    • Implement, and evaluate program and activities. Ensure program safety and program quality.
    • Plan and execute volunteer events, field trips, parent engagement, and student recruitment initiatives.
    • Maintain routine contact with principals, teachers, and school staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • A bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or another related field.
    • Ability and sensitivity to work with youth from diverse backgrounds, languages, and with a variety of academic/skill levels.
    • 2-4 years of experience in education, youth, volunteer, or after school programs.
    • Ability to work independently and in teams, follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with complexity and change. Experience working in a start-up environment is a plus.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish.

    We offer a competitive nonprofit compensation and benefits package which currently includes 15 days paid time off, 11 office holidays, the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, safe and sick leave days; a company ICRHA plan, dental, vision, and life insurance; and a 401(k) plan with employer match. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position.
