Colorado Doula Project
Development and Outreach Manager
As the only hybrid abortion fund and practical support organization in the state of Colorado, Colorado Doula Project 501(c)(3) is uniquely positioned as the first point of on-the-ground contact for many individuals seeking abortion. It is our ongoing mission to ensure that everyone traveling to Colorado for an abortion has a fully funded procedure, a reliable ride to and from their appointment, a safe place to stay, a belly full of food, and a trained volunteer abortion doula to help them navigate the experience.
Colorado Doula Project was founded in 2015 as a grassroots, nonprofit, volunteer-based collective of abortion doulas and reproductive justice advocates. Together we envision and work towards a world where reproductive justice is not only a given but a right for all individuals and families, regardless of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, class, and background.
Colorado Doula Project is seeking a part-time, permanent Development and Outreach Manager to further our mission by supporting us in meeting our fundraising goals.
As the Development and Outreach Manager, you will be an invaluable presence in your mission to help Colorado Doula Project meet our fundraising goals through fundraising initiatives, major gift solicitation, in-person and virtual events, grant research and application, and increasing name recognition of CDP on a local and national scale.
In less than a year, Colorado Doula Project has transitioned from an entirely volunteer-run organization to a small team of paid staff members, of which you will be the fourth member. You will report directly to the Executive and Deputy Directors, and will work closely with our Community Manager and a handful of dedicated volunteers selected from our larger cohort who support in our administrative function. In order to meet the increased need of abortion travelers to Colorado, we are in the midst of ambitious plans to ‘scale up,’ and this role comes with opportunities for growth and expansion of scope.
CDP’s Development and Outreach Manager would be ideal for someone who finds it especially gratifying to dream about ‘what could be’ and has the follow-through to see it come to fruition. The newness of this role provides an opportunity for you–with the support and collaboration of the CDP team–to implement your own vision for sustainable fundraising infrastructure on an organizational scale.
We strongly encourage you to apply even if you fit some–but not all–of our criteria.
CDP provides equal employment and advancement opportunities to all staff members. We do not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, immigration status, socioeconomic status, ancestry, age, size, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, familial status, veteran status, disability, AIDS/HIV status, medical condition, prior conviction, arrest history, current or past experience in sex work, traits historically associated with race, (including, but not limited to, hair texture and protective hairstyles), or any other characteristic protected by law.
CDP values and specifically seeks applicants who are people of color; women; and queer, transgender, gender non-conforming, and gender fluid people. CDP provides equal employment and advancement opportunities to all staff members.
This position is part-time at 20 hours per week and remote. Applicants must reside in–or be willing to move to–Colorado, preferably within the Denver/Boulder area, and have a quiet, private working space. Pay is $35/hour.
This role entails 20 hours/week of primarily sitting in front of a computer, and participating in phone calls and virtual meetings. The Development and Outreach Manager will occasionally be required to be present at in-person fundraisers, meetings, and events which will sometimes include walking variable distances, standing for extended periods of time, or tabling outdoors for a handful of hours in warm or hot weather. We will work closely to make reasonable accommodations for any individual with a disability to ensure they can perform the essential functions of this role.
