Location: Remote position, with preference given to candidates whose working hours overlap at least 50% with the US Pacific time zone

FTE Status: 1FTE, Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: will vary based on the candidate's country of residence and will commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications

We are looking for an experienced community manager ready to bring their expertise and energy to Health Care Without Harm to activate and take our Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH)  member network to the next level. Candidates will bring their skills in network engagement, communications and virtual collaboration platform management as they work with our global team, regional offices and strategic partners around the world to create a thriving membership community.


Organizational Overview

Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an international nongovernmental organization (NGO) dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector into a leader for environmental health and justice. Working globally, HCWH collaborates with healthcare professionals, hospitals, NGOs, governments, and international entities to promote environmentally healthy practices in healthcare. The organization focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector and acting as a community anchor for sustainability. With regional offices in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and a network of strategic partners across continents, HCWH fosters global and regional collaborations to address climate and health issues, supported by a global team. Its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network has over 1,900 members in 86 countries who represent the interests of more than 70,000 hospitals and health centers. The network serves as one of the key vehicles through which the organization and its partners engage directly with the health care sector on the ground around the world and supports facilities in their transformation to becoming low carbon, resilient and sustainable.

Position Description

The GGHH Community Engagement Manager is a new position created to focus on leading the development and implementation of innovative and effective strategies to engage and activate its expansive Global Green and Healthy Hospitals membership network of health care institutions around the world. They will be an integral part of the HCWH global team and will collaborate with other global program teams as well as HCWH regional offices and strategic partners to ensure the achievement of our shared strategic goals. 


Primary Objectives

  • Ensure members’ active and dynamic participation in the network through GGHH initiatives, tools, and resources.
  • Develop new engagement strategies, management processes membership models to best equip the GGHH team around the world in successfully coordinating the network. 
  • Create an active online collaboration community that GGHH members are participating in and benefiting from.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Lead the development of member engagement strategies for GGHH broadly and all GGHH initiatives, tools and resources.
  • Collaborate with and support regional offices and strategic partners on engagement strategies and their implementation to build membership breadth and depth.
  • Manage GGHH Connect, an online global collaboration platform for GGHH members, including its continued development, promotion, and engagement strategies.
  • Manage the GGHH global membership team to effectively and efficiently administer the network.
  • Develop and manage processes for gathering member feedback and conduct analyses and recommendations to inform future planning.
  • Develop communications strategies and content, in collaboration with global and regional communications teams, to promote and engage members in the network broadly and in specific opportunities, initiatives and offerings.
  • Support the development and implementation of virtual communities of practice at global and regional level focused on priority programmatic areas such as climate. 


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, international affairs, communications/marketing or other related fields. Combined experience and education can serve as a substitute for minimum education.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in network, community and/or knowledge management, with a focus on sustainability and health fields highly preferred.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge and skills working with diverse global networks in virtual settings.
  • Multicultural Experience: Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural settings, with experience in global or international communications highly preferred.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is essential. Fluency in other languages is desirable.
  • Virtual Work Proficiency: Comfortable and experienced working in virtual or remote environments, demonstrating the ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones and digital platforms.
