Summary Description
The goal of resident services is to offer programs that will improve the quality of life at Community Lodgings (CLI) properties and strengthen the neighborhood where (CLI) properties are located. Residents Services offers programs for all age groups but focuses primarily on children and teens. After-school and summer enrichment programs for youth comprise the largest part of Resident Services programming. We offer workshops and classes during the year for adults.
General Responsibilities
- Oversee programs at the learning center (e.g. youth education/mentoring (daily), adult education/workshops (quarterly)).
- Execute educational programs and enrichment activities primarily for students and occasionally for adults.
- Supervise program volunteers. Manage volunteer schedules for the center.
- Maintain and cultivate partnerships with other organizations (i.e., DCHS, ACPS, city
- agencies, non-profits) in order to provide a network of support to families in the community through workshops, referrals and resources.
- Integrate technology into student programming and develop students’ 21st century learning skills.
- Collaborate with staff to establish goals and objectives for educational programs.
- Track individual student progress at school, program and workshops and document participant attendance.
- Ensure all high school students have an active graduation plan and receive support to accomplish personal goals.
- Provide services to residents including outreach, food distribution and applications for support services, among others.
- Serve as a liaison between families, the school and the community – e.g. communicate regularly with ACPS staff, strengthen relationships with ACPS, attend conferences and get student work from teachers.
- Perform administrative duties, including but not limited to fulfilling grant requirements and reporting as required.
- Attend evening and weekend events as needed.
Job Qualifications
- In progress or completed Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, social science or related field.
- At least two (2) years of work-related experience, on-the-job training and/or vocational training.
- Two (2) years’ experience working in multicultural environments.
Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and comprehensive skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Functional use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Spanish is highly desired
- Ability to stand for a few hours at a time and lift up to 30 lbs.
