Human Resources Manager Job Description

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the strategic implementation of policies and procedures that support a thriving work environment for all Wonders employees. The HR

Manager will partner with the Wonders leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. The HR Manager maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance and best practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the recruitment team and supports all aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all aspects of payroll and benefits management.
  • Manage all liability and compliance requirements.
  • Manage the employee handbook and all human resource communications, including staff newsletter.
  • Provide support and guidance to program management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for administrative roles; collaborates with program managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Leads the onboarding process, including new hire orientation, ensuring all background checks and compliance-related documents are completed and submitted to the correct jurisdiction
  • Oversee annual performance management process, including the development of evaluation tools that provide meaningful feedback to employees.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Support the professional development program and initiatives that provide individualized learning opportunities for employees.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, multi-state, and local employment laws and regulations, and all employment related requirements for corresponding child care licensing agencies.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with ADP, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP are highly desired.
