Social Change Coordinator

Join Mosaic's team of sexual violence advocates in supporting change in our community! Your community organizing passion and energy would be focused on listening deeply to the needs of our community and creating opportunities for Mosaic to meet those needs. A typical work week has somewhat flexible regular work hours in Mosaic's offices, with occasional remote work, evenings, and weekend meetings or events. Periodic (with stipend in addition to hourly wage) on-call helpline response would be required.

Purpose: Identifying and developing strategic relationships for Mosaic to broaden the reach of prevention, advocacy, and support for people of all genders who have experienced sexual harm, and to provide social change opportunities for a community free of sexual violence.

Qualities: The Social Change Coordinator is a community organizer who wishes to invest their energy in a dynamic and transformative phase in the life cycle of Mosaic. They will find joy in day to day operations while uniting the community in growing an organization that prevents violence and serves people who have experienced harm.

Outcomes:

  • Organizational activities and resources are aligned with values and purpose;
  • Mosaic has broad, interconnected collaboration with area agencies and resources;
  • Outreach and communications activities further Mosaic’s purpose;
  • People and communities who have experienced sexual harm have access to a variety of supports;
  • Refer to Mosaic’s strategic plan for more information.

Strategies:

  • Perform outreach, communications, and social change (prevention) strategies;
  • Serve as an organizational influencer to build bold internal and external alignment with Mosaic’s purpose through organizational development and special initiatives;
  • Develop, manage, evaluate and oversee special projects;
  • Coordinate organizational development activities;
  • Coordinate development of friendraising and fundraising activities to resource organizational purpose;
  • Provide a variety of supports for people who have been impacted by sexual violence;
  • Collaborate with service providers and community members;
  • Represent Mosaic at events or conferences as needed;
  • Develop and maintain volunteer and community partner relationships;
  • Identify community resources and make appropriate referrals for needed services and information;
  • Work directly with the community to engage prevention activism;
  • Develop connections with community service partners that allow easy and accessible referrals between organizations and to create sexual violence prevention programs;
  • Attend ongoing training and professional development; seek opportunities to improve;
  • Provide regular helpline coverage and on-call work;
  • Provide sexual violence prevention training and leadership development opportunities to community members;
  • Perform other strategies as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Any combination of experience and education equal to a Bachelors of Arts or Science Degree in one of the human services, communications, or related fields;
  • Knowledge of sexual violence;
  • A demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression work and ending violence;
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in leadership, and project management and development;
  • Ability and commitment to work with a team to achieve organizational goals;
  • Demonstrable experience in community organizing;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and group facilitation skills.

Position Requirements:

  • This position performs work primarily in the office setting (phone and computer use) but also at locations throughout the community in a variety of weather and physical conditions. Heavy computer use is required, as well as bending and lifting up to 40 pounds. Reliable transportation is required. Some evenings and weekends are required.
