The Organization

At Thrive Scholars, our goal is to see talented students of color from low-income communities develop inter-generational wealth and financial security, and become the diverse corporate, civic, and academic leaders our country so desperately needs.

Our comprehensive, data-driven program model focuses on the key inflection points that can be the difference between graduating from any college, and graduating from a top college with the grades, degree, career skills, and network needed to thrive in the career of their choice. Over our six-year program, Scholars benefit from admissions and intensive academic preparation before college and a comprehensive set of academic, personal, social-emotional, financial, and career supports throughout college.

Thrive Scholars originated in Los Angeles as South Central Scholars (“SCS”) twenty years ago. Since that time, the organization has refined its program model and, in the last three years, has focused on expanding nationally; reaching more high-achieving underrepresented students, tripling the number of Scholars we serve; and deepening our program impact.

The Opportunity

As we work to realize ambitious fundraising goals, we must expand our Development efforts with the support of a dedicated team coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of fundraisers who generate revenue from philanthropic partners and corporate partners. Ideal candidates will be eager to learn about - and contribute to - the inner workings of a Development team across various work streams. In this role, you will gain first-hand exposure to the day-to-day work flow of frontline fundraisers and directly support their activities in engaging funders and stakeholders and securing investments from top corporations and individual philanthropists. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys editing, research, and data-related work. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, and will be based in the Los Angeles office.

Due to COVID precautions, Thrive Scholars staff are predominantly working remotely at this time. During this period of remote work, the Development Coordinator will be expected to visit the office on average 2x each week for mail and other office needs. Once our teams return to the office, the Coordinator will generally be expected to be in the office 4 days each week, with the option to work remotely 1 day.
