The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship is hiring a resident for its new project called 'The Lost and Found.' This is a year-long opportunity to help lead PPF as we embark on creating this geographically revolving virtual worshiping community, which intentionally shares leadership. There is no designated pastor; instead, worship leadership will be taken on by those who make up the community at any given time. As a resident, you'll assist the executive director and volunteer project team in organizing and supporting these services. This role is ideal for a college student, seminarian, or anyone looking to deepen their experience of peacemaking as an expression of faith. The position is approximately five hours per week, with flexibility around the rhythms of the church.
The Presbyterian Peace Fellowship is an 80 year old organization dedicated to building peace. We are an open and affirming, independent, 501(c)3 non-profit that works to end war and to promote nonviolent theory and action to respond to violence and conflict. The organization is largely run by volunteers with an Executive Director, Financial Administrator, Minister for Gun Violence Prevention, and Communications and Digital Organizing Manager.
What you’ll receive:
•A stipend of $4,500
• The opportunity to co-create a new community with ambitions of building peace and equipping peacemakers
• Formal mentorship from peacemakers with decades of experience
• Flexible working environment in collaboration with a team that genuinely enjoys working with each other
• Travel, accommodations, and ticket to participate in Wild Goose Festival, 2025
What you’ll be offering:
•Creative input in crafting meaningful worship in partnership with a national community of peacemakers
• Practical, technological, and spiritual support in co-creating a virtual Peace Church, a new community of worship centered on the Christian commitment to non-violence
• Project support as needed in coordination with worship leaders
Required skills / experiences:
• Fluent in zoom and the audio/visual technology necessary for a virtual service - the capacity to help us make the technology invisible as we gather
•Reliability, flexibility, responsiveness, and a joy at collaboratively co-creating
• Strong communication skills
•Belief in the possibility of peace, the values of non-violence, and the capacity for church to do good in the world
Desired skills / experiences:
• Experience in peace-building movement work
•Musical talent
• Theological training
