    Descrição

    This is a critical time for immigrant worker organizing, and we’re looking for passionate individuals to support our efforts. As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in research, organizing, and advocacy while making a real impact in the fight against wage theft and labor exploitation. Because of the populations we are organizing, we have a strong preference for applicants with at least Spanish language proficiency .

    An intern can expect to work on the following type of assignments: company and corporate research, help with our database of work opportunities, public record requests, documenting worker statements (i.e. taking or translating affidavits), and documenting wage theft cases. An intern would also have a chance to assist with our member activation through the Jersey City Brigade, to plan direct action and community service events.

    Job Duties:

    • Researching contractors and developers
    • Collaborating on worker organizing campaigns, taking worker statements, assisting with enforcement action cases
    • Interviewing current and recent non-union laborers on work history
    • Analyzing key policy proposals and tracking major trends

    Job Qualifications

    • Computer skills (Google Suite, internet research, etc.)
    • Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred
    • Exercise good judgment when dealing with sensitive information
    • Interest in and commitment to the labor movement and economic justice

    Job Requirements & Compensation

    • $20/hour, depending on experience
    • Office environment is business casual
    • Schedule is negotiable and flexible, but we prefer 20 hours per week for 12 weeks
    • Internship is best experienced in person, but some remote work available
