    The International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC) is seeking a Digital Initiatives intern and is currently accepting applications. The Digital Initiatives Intern will work with the Program Manager and the Executive Director to provide web-based, editorial, and communications assistance for various initiatives and programs on civil resistance.

    Location: International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, Washington, DC.

    Anticipated start date: Week of October 7, 2024.

    Duration: Through December 13, 2024.

    Compensation: $22/hr, nonexempt.

    Hours: 15/week.

    Deadline to Apply: October 1, 2024. Early applications are strongly encouraged, as applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

    Must have permission to work in the United States and must be located in the DC area.

    Scope of Work

    Primary responsibilities and duties will include but are not limited to:

    Online Course

    • Build modules for ICNC’s online courses on the Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Create promotional campaigns to market the online course.
    • Onboard learners to the LMS.
    • Experiment with digital tools to modify and adapt current content into new formats.
    • Write reports on learning gains and evaluations of online courses, drawing from survey results and metrics.

    Publications

    • Review rounds of revisions in the editing, layout, and design stage of production.
    • Create webpages to promote newly released books.

    Webinars

    • Communicate with presenters to secure biographies, headshots, and presentation descriptions.
    • Draft promo webpages and emails for webinars.
    • Run technical side of Zoom registration and sessions for webinar events.

    Administration and Miscellaneous Tasks

    • Coordinate office and community events.
    • Provide ad hoc assistance to ICNC staff on general administrative tasks as needed and requested.

    Applicant Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Candidates must excel at time management and be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized.
    • Ability to juggle and prioritize tasks, as we are a small team with a large scope of responsibility.
    • Strong writing and editing skills.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and fundamental computing skills.
    • Experience with content management systems (such as WordPress and SquareSpace), online publishing, email marketing systems (such as Pardot and MailChimp) .
    • A strong interest in at least one of the following: civil resistance, social movements, international relations, democratization, human rights, peacebuilding and peace studies, conflict resolution, editing, or publishing.
    • Professional and positive demeanor.
    • Fluency in English.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • BA or BS degree.
    • Proficiency in WordPress and basic knowledge of HTML.
    • Proficiency in Mailchimp.

We pursue our mission by organizing workshops, webinars, courses, and other educational programs for scholars and practitioners. We also support groundbreaking research, curriculum development, translations of educational resources, and the development of new written and audiovisual materials about civil resistance.
