Communications Intern - Summer 2022 (REMOTE, PAID)

Friends of UNFPA is seeking a REMOTE, Communications Intern for the Summer of 2022. The Communications Intern will gain experience in nonprofit communications across multiple platforms including social media, email campaigns, direct mail, newsletters, website management, and more. They will also have the unique opportunity to learn about working with a United Nations entity.

Through our leadership and partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, Friends of UNFPA is a powerful voice and influencer within the United States for global reproductive health care and rights. With an unswerving focus on maximizing financial resources for UNFPA, we mobilize Americans to help support the reproductive health and rights of each individual. We advocate passionately for the work of UNFPA and showcase UNFPA’s remarkable achievements. We give voice to, celebrate, empower and respect the women, girls and communities that we work to support.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Assist in researching original online content for the Friends of UNFPA website
• Update previously published website content to ensure continued accuracy and relevance
• Assist in content brainstorming for Friends of UNFPA’s website and social media platforms
• Assist in ad-hoc research related to long-term messaging and branding
• Proofread communications content
• Assist in the development of an online photo archive
• Monitor UNFPA publications and social media platforms
• Perform other communications-related duties and undertake projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Studies in Communications, International Relations, Women’s Studies, Public Health, Public Policy or related field
• Excellent written and oral communication, research, and writing skills
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines

INTERNSHIP DATES: Summer 2022 (July – August 2021); official start/end date are flexible. Paid position: $15.00/hour, 15 hours per week preferred.
