Krousar Thmey

Through its creation in 1991, the foundation Krousar Thmey (New Family) has been the foremost Cambodian organization assisting underprivileged children. Three distinct entities state approved in France and in Switzerland, and recognized charity in United Kingdom, seek to fundraising and inform about Krousar Thmey activities in Cambodia. All the projects are run by Cambodians: 380 of them work daily. Three European volunteers help with communication and financial matters. The foundation has 3 programmes: - "Child welfare": To provide appropriate care for abandoned or orphaned children, for street children or for children who have been victims of human trafficking. To provide them affective support and education which are consistent with traditional Khmer traditions and values so these children can become independent adults. - "Educational support": To offer a special education to deaf or blind children. To inform families about the educational opportunities for these children. To involve public authorities in special education. - "Cultural and artistic development": To allow children to discover the roots of their own traditional artistic culture.
