Nepal Orphans Home

Nepal Orphans Home is a 501(c)(3) charity incorporated in Davidson, North Carolina, with operations in Nepal as Papa's House NGO. Nepal Orphans Home (NOH) attends to the welfare of children in Nepal who are orphaned, abandoned, or not supported by their parents. 

In 2022, Nepal Orphans Home (NOH) began its eighteenth year of operations providing for 32 children living in Papa’s House, as well as supporting 18 adolescents from Papa's House attending college preparatory classes and funding the higher education of 25 young adults from Papa's House enrolled in college and university.

Papa's House provides for the children's basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing, as well as their education and health care, and administers to their emotional needs with love and compassion. The mission of Nepal Orphans Home is not just to rescue children from abject poverty, but to enable the children to develop and realize their potentials.

In 2022, NOH's Chelsea Education and Community Center (CECC) began its tenth year of after-school academic enrichment and life skills training for the Papa’s House children and its eighth year of free literacy classes to more than two hundred local women in the community of Dhapasi.

Volunteer Nepal hosted international volunteers to serve the poor in Nepal. In 2019, forty individuals, representing eleven countries volunteered. The top three home countries of the volunteers were the United States (45%), Australia (13%), and France (13%). In 2020 and 2020, due to COVID lockdowns and restrictions on international travel, Volunteer Nepal was not able to host volunteers for service in Nepal. We hope that in 2022, Volunteer Nepal hopes to be able to bring volunteers to Nepal again.

Volunteer Nepal provides over a dozen placements throughout Nepal--from Kathmandu to remote villages. Options include teaching in schools and assisting in hospitals and medical clinics, rehabilitation centers, ashrams, human rights NGOs, animal shelters, and village agriculture. High school and college groups have volunteered as part of their academic experiences. Volunteer Nepal advances the NOH mission with talented, compassionate individuals serving the poor in Nepal. Moreover, the income from volunteer fees contributes to the operation of Papa's House.

As part of its mission, Nepal Orphans Home has long supported other local charities. With the earthquakes in 2015, the need to help others less fortunate dramatically increased. Nepal Orphans Home set up the NOH Earthquake Relief Fund for both short term humanitarian assistance and longer run reconstruction and development. NOH Outreach regularly provides assistance in the local community as well as to other organizations throughout Nepal.
