National Network of State Teachers of the Year

National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) was chartered as a collaborative teacher-led network of some of the nation’s most outstanding educators to serve as a community of learning to gain and share the most effective teaching practices. NNSTOY’s commitment and goals have since expanded to amplifying and sustaining the teacher voice in policy and practice beyond the initial year of honor as a State Teacher of the Year (STOY).

NNSTOY is promoting a new vision of the teaching profession, with differentiated roles and responsibilities along a career continuum. This focus will allow the field to recruit and retain talented teachers, increase effective teaching, and improve students’ learning and development of 21^st century skills.

NNSTOY’s action plan includes two goals:

1. Transform practicing teachers’ roles, responsibilities and compensation to attract and retain more highly effective teachers; and
2. Become a trusted voice representing highly effective teachers to advance the new vision of the teaching profession.
